Overcomer 2019

Who decided to put this religious bull**** all over the movie?

I'm not kidding, about 50% of this movie is about following Jesus. They even did a freaking bible closeup - WTF?!? That is clear missmarketing here!

Put a warning label on it, so I know I'm gonna puke watching it next time...

btw: Cleptomania isn't cured by religion...

Found this movie great and very touching! Personally I like this the most out of all the Kendrick movies!

I wish the US and Netflix would stop with this absolute saccharine fuelled, religiously biased, racially imbalanced crap.

The premise of the film had promise with some good glimmers of humour but it was totally ruined by its overly religious theme. Filled with cliches of the reasonably wealthy white family doing what they consider is best for the poor black family and obviously the white family were the saviours as they are no doubt more closer to God than any other ethnicity. I can say this as a white guy! The only message this film sends is about self indulgence from the director.

I agree, there was too much religion. The basis for the story was great and the inspiration was there, from the caring people in her life, to finding religion. The combination helped her to find the strength to overcome difficulties and to succeed. It also inspired me. However, the amount of religion disheartend me.

This movie is wildly unethical! So glad that the teachers who have known Hannah for a couple weeks think that they're wiser than the grandmother who has known her her entire life.

For being a teacher at a Christian school, the coach seems to have no moral qualms about bending or breaking rules, whether it's to reunite a girl with her father without consulting the grandmother or if it's to cheat at a cross-country race by providing coaching to the runner throughout the entire race. At least there is a teeny, tiny argument to be made that the former is for the greater good, but the latter has no justification whatsoever.
