A Very British Scandal 2021

Top notch drama, but tiresome that they keep flitting between London and Inveraray Castle like it's 5 minutes down the road. Even today 50 odd years later it takes a good 8 and a half hours...

[HBO Max] Following the manipulation of the mass media that we already saw in "A very English scandal" (BBC, 2018), this adaptation by Sarah Phelps has the virtue of offering a feminist perspective, but without trying to justify the protagonist. By placing both on the same level of selfishness, it establishes the difference of permissiveness that society has with the scandals of a man versus those of a woman.

Good 3-part show that never gets bogged down or mundane. I didn't know anything about this stuff - happened before I was born, but it's quite interesting.

Ian Campbell / Duke of Argyle was a financial parasite and just went from one rich woman to the next. If he tried this in the 21st century for sure someone would have "capped his ass"
