Surprise, surprise... Dan wasn't smart enough to make copies of any of the tapes. It would have been so easy given he had digitized the tapes and had his phone. Just upload the recordings and send them when you go in to town for coffee. Not that hard. He is actually dumb enough to destroy private property without any insurance at all... at least he got the SD card from Bellows's camera. So he gets some credit for that, but not nearly enough to make up for his poor choices and planning.
The rest of the episode set in 1924 was really quite good. The back story was much appreciated and it was well told and well acted.
Amazing how much better the story is when the characters aren't acting batshit crazy for no reason.
