Ryan Murphy youre going to hell
Man, this did not need to be nine episodes long
I suggest everyone to do their own research and not believe everything that is shown in this show.
It draws a completely wrong image of the brothers.
All these Ryan Murphy shows just not made for my taste. Every/most producers or production companies have their own style, and Murphys style is not for me. And I really tried to like it.
Review: I enjoyed this series for the entertainment value it provided. I do think the pacing of it felt kind of odd at times. We really didn't get to see all that much of the media attention that they got. It was shown, but not for that long. I think this is part of the inherent problem with these 8-9 episode seasons that are so common (and annoying) nowadays. You don't get enough time to explore things. But, I digress. As for the accuracy of the story, I think that's a complicated thing because we don't really know the truth. I did take issue, like many others did, with the portrayal of the relationship between Lyle & Erik as being kind of "sexualized." Even down to the marketing of the show being a poster of them shirtless together. It's a little weird to even allude to that without proof. Shows like this do inherently raise questions about the whole "true crime" or "based on a true story" genre of tv shows that is so popular nowadays. But, in general, I did enjoy watching this show.

Really good actors and show!
Netflix no longer makes "true stories", they make drama loosely based on the truth and heavily based on rumors and conspiracy theories because that makes for better TV. Netflix "true stories" lead you down the path that the FILM MAKER (not biographer) wants you to go down. Real life is seldom as entertaining as the Netflix telling of that event, so why not embellish or, frankly, just totally make up facts. The poster reflects the direction the FILM MAKER takes on this story, it's more important to him than either the story itself or the truth.
While parts of this might reflect real life, it feels like this show was made for another purpose entirely. It's a given that any series or movie made with actors to be "based upon a true story" will take large leaps, this just simply uses names, places and a few facts as their only "based upon" and the rest is just entirely made up.
This show is getting a lot of flak for not adhering 100% to Lyle and Erik’s version of events but I think we have to remember that we don’t know the truth of what happened. We’re only able to hear from one side since the other side were murdered. I think the show was ultimately fair in depicting the many different narratives of what went down between the brothers and their parents. We’re left to determine what we find most convincing for ourselves.
Great cast. Great acting. Great screenplay. GREAT! Nicholas did an amazing job in general, but his fight scenes ????? he killed it! (new crush unlocked)
HOWEVER, the sexual tension that Ryan tried to create between the brothers here felt awkward. It was unnecessary and also not true.
In episode 5, you can really see how GOOD of an actor Cooper is. A 20-minute, no-cut episode??? :raised_hands:
Ian Murphy cooked bro. Brother knows exactly what he’s doing with these slightly gay painstakingly criminal but almost not tv shows. You know when you see a weird gay romance typa shit pop up, that Ryan Murphy’s involved. I don’t mind. It’s flamboyant and I love it but, I’m just saying Murphy has a fucking M.O now.
I shouldn’t publicly say what I want to say about this
As someone who didn't knew the story behind this show, I got to say it started really good but turned ugly towards the end, the pacing was off, the story changed so much, from episode to episode, from scene to scene, that it made it hard to watch/believe the show.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez is one helluva actor, he believed in what he was saying and he made us believe he was really Lyall unlike Ari Graynor who was so unconvincing and Cooper tried to put on a performance but he failed even tho he was very emotional and full of tears but still not convincing.
Nicholas was the ace of the show and Nathan Lane is such a storyteller
No idea what version of events were true, and maybe no one will ever know. But in terms of this ‘dramatisation’, as disturbing as it was, I think it was done well, especially the one take episode with Erik.
An absolute rollercoaster ride into the twisted psyches of a broken family that really underscores how humans are way scarier than the supernatural.
The series does a remarkable job giving you all sides of the story, throwing in significant doubt into the integrity of the brothers’ stories. But ultimately, given the amount of screen time paid to the brothers’ version, you can’t help but feel the series lean towards legitimising it.
There is a truly standout episode comprising just 1 half-hour shot of the younger brother relating the abuse, going through emotions of embarrassment, reluctance, abject pain and betrayal. It’s a remarkable effort, but the performance stops short of being truly great, with the actor doing the best he can, but lacking the natural magnetism and charisma of A-listers.
The actor who impressed us more is the father, who portrays toxic masculinity, good hearted care for the family, repressed gay undertones, and fragile vulnerability very convincingly. He truly build the character into a multi faceted reprehensible but tragic persona and captured all the complexities of an actual person. Such a pity he did not get his own 1-shot episode.
The lawyer stands out in the series as a tough but bleeding heart woman who cares deeply for the brothers. This strikes us as particularly false given she built her career around representing clearly guilty people and trying to get them acquitted, She is likely not to be that noble in real life as portrayed in the show.
The soundtrack and score are amazing. It's on my head for days.
I have watched also the Dahmer story and have read how innnacurate and uneccesary that show was i do not believe a thing the this guy Ryan Murphy has done with this true crime store. He potrait even from the poster what you will execpt and twisted probably everything with a simple google search. I 9 episode story with so many fillers like the journalist with his daughter, her adoption and so many other things that gave nothing to the story. I do not remember so filling stuff in the Dahmer story.
We even saw a Milli Vannili escape from prison, was this a comedy ? sometime it felt like that with the music and acting. and the "Friends" comment!!!
The main problem here is the creator not the stories.

im sorry, Ryan Murphy, his production team and whoever greenlit this project. Creating incestuous fan fiction of real life brothers who were abused by their fathers would get a VIP ticket to hell
