New Amsterdam 2018

Excellent feel-good medical show. Very political, in a way that will displease conservatives, and I'm 100% OK with that. Actually, New Amsterdam is the medicine that medicine needs. You can't have good medicine if you belittle your patients, you can't have long-term efficient medicine if you don't go down to the root social causes that make people sick, and you just can't have medicine at all if you don't let sick people reach you because it's expensive and that your public health system is broken - by design. New Amsterdam, won't just gloss over that.
Yes the plots aren't so realistic. Yes everytime everything goes fine in the end because Max has a genius idea that spontaneously and immediately works and leaves everybody happy. And what? Why should all modern shows be sad, pessimistic and remind us the shitty life we already live everyday, letting us think it's normal and that we should passively accept what we endure?
The show is a invitation to be good, kind and attentive to each other, have trust, respect and faith in others, stay optimistic and fight for our lives and rights.

This is an outstanding show. I haven't been so engrossed in a show straight from the pilot in a long time.

Hospital dramas aren't my usual forte, I picked it up after a recommendation from my daughter and from following Ryan Eggold in The Blacklist and loved it.

The whole cast is excellent - all very different and highly complex.

I just don't do medical dramas at all.
Or at least I didn't until now.
Great acting and great but diverse characters.

The diversity in this cast just works. I did not think I would like it because I was not a fan of Ryan Eggold but I love him in this role.

I see a lot of criticism about the political aspects of the series, but that's the whole point, it's the only progressive left-wing series on television. The only. It takes at least one! The series is excellent, although season 5 is significantly below unfortunately.

I used to like this show, but this year every episode had turned into a platform for political commentary that I cannot support. I definitely don't mind being exposed to different ideas or those that I may be opposed to, but this show has moved from entertainment to a political opinion piece. Sorry but now I will have to pull the plug and let it go on without me.

Definitely one of the better Hospital Shows. At least the Pilot suggests it.

I know that Freema Agyeman and Ryan Eggold are good Actors (Although I hated his Character in The Blacklist).
Janet Montgomery plays her Role as the ED-Doctor Laura bloom very well also.

So all in all a great cast, leaves to hope that the writers were able to keep it up after the Pilot.

We need a new great Show in a Hospital, now that Greys Anatomy is short of Flatlining and the start of the new The Resident Season was a bit weird (another hacker attack via Phone, really?!?).

Terrible political propaganda. The story lines suck!

A lame and naive recreation of every medical show out there.
Plot is way too naive where Max is taking random impulsive decisions which he spends 2 seconds to think about, decisions that will drown any institution and ruin people's lives but somehow in this show it is considered heroic!
Way too many parallel stories which comes on and off randomly.
A young drug addict who runs the emergency unit yelling at everybody and killing people because of her addiction but still considered a good character because she is the boss's friend.
Show started out OKish but became way too political.
I now only run it in the background for noise

It’s like your typical medical drama, but just not interesting. I’ve watched pretty much every medical drama, excluding the super old ones and I think this one is the worst.

The first two episodes were really good. I hope they are able to keep the momentum up. I'll withhold judgement until the season finale.

Ryan Eggold needs a good show right now. So i'm rootin' for him.

I 1000% recommend this show! The actors in it are AMAZING!!!!!

One of the best out there at the moment in relation to hospital drama

There are so many things to like about this series. The writing has depth. A superb cast. It puts the spotlight on the medical issues of our day. The personal dramas keep us rooted in the series. It's optimistic tone is a drink of cold water in a parched desert. I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Medical Drama]

It started off good and enjoyable with the first three episodes, then hit a steady decline. I decided to drop the show after watching the seventh episode as I became extremely disinterested in it.

i loooove the interaction between Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher. It is hillarious.

really strong Pilot..hope they can keep this up

Okay I work in healthcare, and inaccuracies / over-the-top medical details are so obvious. But, I love the heart of the sure, and the drama. Tuning in once last time, it is been a pleasure New Amsterdam.

This entire series is offensive and epitomizes what is wrong with Hollywood and the left. What an insult to your intelligence.

Not sure why we are still following Max storyline when he is in England, unless he is coming back to New Amsterdam.

I felt the final season was rushed but glad they brought it to a definite end.

The story telling is just super obvious, forced and repetitive... hard to explain but it feels very off, I don't like any of the characters. I agree with the messages it tries to portray (almost all medical dramas send the same kind of messages anyway) but it's just done in a very dull way... I feel like it's yet another netflix gives you a worse version than X, but you already watched X, now you can watch this because there's nothing else to do. Sad times.

Way to political. Started off ok but the drama gets drowned out with all the stupid agendas. Took it off my list.

Thought I could enjoy a good medical show. However, back to back weeks of one-aided political bias. No thanks. I have way too many other good shows to watch. They lost me with their liberal bias. I wouldn’t even care if they actually tried to show both sides.

Globally, a good drama, even if at the end, it was the right time to stop.

I loved the first 2 seasons. They felt like a legitimate successor to Greys Anatomy, they were emotional, gentle, focused on the patients and avoided all those cliché pitfalls. But somehow that got lost in the later seasons. We had love triangles, endless addiction issues, Max trying to singlehandedly cure every problem of the world etc. So, it's good that it had a scripted ending instead of being simply cancelled... but it could have been a much better show overall.

Latest episode is so fucking stupid. Platforming the idea that psychics are real? Railing against weed? Who in the hell wrote this one? jesus.

I enjoy the world built in the show and the chemistry between most of the main actors. After season 1, the plot quickly devolves into whatever virtue-signaling social issue is current. I usually don't mind Hollywood sprinkling that in here and there, but there was a point where half of the seasons after S01 were all politically charged instead of feel-good medical/character drama.

The lip syncing in translations is HORRIBLE. ABSOLUTELY. HORRIBLE.

But the series is just too lovely to be mad about it. <3
