Everett and Shade have great chemistry together as characters. It's even better because the sexual tension ISN'T overly emphasized. While it felt smooth in episode 5 here it just feels forced and while deputy Conroy is a character whose goofiness can service a lot of plots. Using him to unexpectedly push the romance angle just isn't one of them. This is otherwise a pretty solid episode with a mid-tier mystery and a low tier b-plot. Shade being trapped was unfortunately boring and the only thing we get out of it was Conroy doing awkward romance pushing from the other direction.
