so... knives out the show?
Hey. To me this was a fun to watch show. Tiffany Haddish I loved. I gave it an 8/10. GR8
This cast looks amazing, and everything Phil Lord and Chris Miller touch turns to gold. Looking forward to this. Not sure why Trakt still allows you to rate a show before it has even started airing. Currently sitting at a 10% - I'll have to give it 10/10 for now to even it out.
This was a struggle. You want to give it points for quasi-creativity (is it though?), but how you manage to take such a talented cast and put nothing in their mouths to work with is beyond me. There's just nothing else to say about it. People gotta work I guess.
It just sunk in why this is so bad! You know the phrase, "Good artists copy. Great artist steal."? You feel like the people who created this had that in the back of their head with no greater vision or capacity to make it into something better, individual, or worthwhile. They just steal, maybe thinking their idea is great, but end up not even good because it's just a laziest copy you've seen in some time.
On top of that, why hire a bunch of comedians to play in an uninspired drama? It's insult to injury. You spend so much time waiting for the joke or thinking about the funny thing you've seen someone in that you're stuck in a constant reminder that they went out of their way to pack it full of funny people to half-ass do drama? The more I think about this series the more it upsets me.
Elizabeth Perkins playing it straight during her feature is the only time I felt a genuine laugh, so, go her.
Another sad example of why not every single story should be developed/stretched into a full season. A cast to die for yet unable to make up for how stretched it all was. Even the comedy felt diluted.
Fantastic cast, very solid story, generally a blast of a show. Apple TV is absolutely killing it.
The first episode combines everything I hate about this kind of "modern" American humour. Ben Schwartz, Dave Franko, Jack Whitehall (did not even see him yet), and all the others: not funny.
First season was a bunch of fun! The second season was a decent step backwards in regards to enjoyability and how they wrapped it up. I am disappointed this was not picked up for a third season because this type of show would be very easy to right the ship and keep rolling for many seasons.
Average Season Review: 7.5/10
Recommendation: Watch If You Need Content (For Whodunnit? Fans)
This was a fun series to watch. Season 1 was far better, but both seasons were solid. Very funny. Not really high on most musicals, but the Yasper episode in season one and even his cameo in season two were historical.
Terrible idea to make season 2, it’s terrible. Should’ve left it as a mini-series / one and done.
[AFTER SEASON 1]
I’m glad that it’s not that long. The 8 episodes are fairly short and that makes this a lot more bearable. It’s not bad, but I enjoyed the Yasper-episode (with the singing) the most and that’s saying something. I like a good whodunnit, but I’m not really convinced about this one. It's easily consumed, but it doesn't have enough funny moments.
An easy enough watch but I thought it would have been funnier.

What a fun time and satisfying conclusion. Heck yeah the murder mystery genre is BACK!
All the twists and turns you want without any of the double crossing you get in the spy genre. All ending in a pretty solid conclusion.
As long as you're not the sort of person who is looking for the killer yourself You can sit back and watch our "bumbling... or is she?" detective do her interviews and drill down to the murderer complete with just enough tangles. I don't mind but I know some people really get annoyed when they can't follow along with the mystery and find the proof themselves. In this case the proof is so inconsequential I refuse to believe anyone would have noticed it on first watch. Yet it's not entirely inplausible that in the telling of the story that inconsistency didn't stick out.
A fun cast, a fun mystery. I mean seriously. How Great Is This Party?!?!?!
