The Jetty 2024

We binged this in one night... love it when we can do that.

The first episode is a little slowish, but about 1/2 through it picks up and after that it goes full steam. At the end of episode 3 you think the story is done... but it's not -much more to come.

Another terrific series from the BBC - well worth watching.

Not the worse out there, but the ending was really lame.

It was so so. Typical BBC all men are evil, women beating rape beasts. Out of touch with reality.

saw all 4 parts this morning. i have to say its the most pointless thing I've seen in a long time. the final reveal is an example of the bad/awful scripts are these days. the only redeeming fact was highlighting the continued violence against women and how society has normalized it.

For 4 episodes, I think that the show did its very best with the material and themes it wanted to convey.

I can understand why some have mixed feelings about it, since some things are sort of left unspoken. Also, the ending was...not terrible, since it resolved the focal plot point, but I really think that this series would have benefitted from one or two more episodes.

I think that the premise was very interesting, but the execution, while fine, could have been better.

A police drama that falls in line with the banal BBC thrillers that seem to want to be profound about issues such as toxic masculinity and abuse tinged with misogyny, but using clichés of the genre and some overly ridiculous plot twists. It is a series designed to show off Jenna Coleman's dramatic abilities, but not even she can counteract a somewhat messy script that uses confusion to try to surprise the viewer. The result is more irritating than surprising.

I went in not knowing what this was about, but driven by my fascination with Jenna-Louise Coleman since her Doctor Who days.

The best thing about this miniseries is Jenna and her acting, but sadly that is all. It is forgettable otherwise.

I found "The Jetty" to be rather average. It has its moments, but the story is bland and honestly it is very difficult to like something that attacks so bluntly the population segment you are part of. Here, men - because all men are wicked in this story, they are rapists and murderers and there is not a single one to be portrayed in a 100% positive light.

Don't get me wrong, I understand there are wicked men in the world. Just like, you know, there are also wicked women.

However, thankfully, we are not all like that.

I enjoyed this 4 part slow burn series. Slow start that tangles into a web of intrigue and mysterious events.
I got confused as I didn't realise that I was watching two time line's 17 years apart. :see_no_evil:
Didn't expect that Twist at the end. Quite a mind blowing ending when the truth finally comes out. :thumbsup_tone1: Ember portrays a woman on the edge of insanity as she investigates the missing Amy from 17 years ago and uncovers a secret she really didn't expect. Well worth a watch :thumbsup_tone1:
