This episode is packed with interesting layers. On one hand, we have super intense moments, like Victor’s terrible day when his life is turned upside down because of the Riddler. These scenes are memorable because they bring a genuine emotional impact... We finally get to see the chaos of Gotham’s explosions from the perspective of an ordinary person, and that makes all the difference. Victor’s life being destroyed isn’t just visual, you really feel it.
Now, talking about the main duo, what’s happening between Oz and Sofia is what really keeps the series going. The tension between them is so obvious, and the mutual trust game (or lack thereof) is one of the most interesting points of the episodes. The show does a great job of exploring this “dance” where both know they can’t fully trust each other, but they still have to work together. Colin Farrell absolutely nails it as the Penguin, creating a character that’s both charming and repulsive at the same time. You even like him in some moments, but then you quickly remember he’s really a scumbag at heart.
And Sofia is slowly revealing herself to be more than just a crime boss. The way she handles the new drug “Bliss,” almost like it’s some kind of salvation, says a lot about her worldview. She’s not just after power – she’s searching for something deeper, something that hasn’t been fully explained yet... Cristin Milioti does a brilliant job portraying this almost religious, fanatical side of Sofia. Every scene between her and Oz is a masterclass in subtlety and manipulation, where it’s clear that, even though she enjoys Oz’s lies, she knows she can never let her guard down.
The highlight of the episode is when Oz and Sofia fully embrace their “partners in crime” mode. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and you can feel that these two could cause a lot of damage together. And this is where the show really shines: in building these complex relationships where no one is fully trustworthy, but everyone needs someone.
Amazing episode. Played me like a fiddle. Tragic. And absolutely hilarious, I lost it a few times.
That pre-title intro that shows the destruction of The Batman's climax from the civilian pov hits hard, and turns out to frame the episode so effectively, not just in term of Victor's character but also reverberates to the drug storyline and the Oz-Sofia/Oz-Victor dynamics too. The show's been consistently really good so far.
I'm absolutely spoiled on Mondays (Sunday's for you Americans) as The Penguin and From are both playing and both are likely contenders for my top TV of 2024. And sitting atop that list is The Penguin. Every episode has been fantastic. Even though, its disconnected from The Batman - this is the best addition to the Batman media since The Dark Knight.
Apparently the villain for The Batman II is already known. I'm wondering if the Bliss drug may lead to one Dr. Jonathan Crane being established.
Oz and Vic... I feel like im watching gotham version of Tony Soprano and Christopher. Great Episode!
It was a good episode. I'm glad these three came together. They complete each other's missing paths. If this series continues like this, it will definitely be one of my favorites. I don't like Mayfa movies but they make me watch them and I never get bored. Thank you for your efforts. Let's see what happens in the next episode, who knows.

This show has got some Terrific acting and screenplay I've ever seen
Colin Farrell, Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz are knocking this out of the damn park... Performances are next level, Victor's growth is great, I really hate seeing him go this route, but hate in the way that makes the story better; and damn is Sofia Falcone isn't scary as fuck, and the emotional part of bliss tied to her... damn,
"Bliss" was also the name of a fictional drug used in an episode of 'Captain Planet.'
God damnit it, this show is so good, and getting better, as everything becomes more complex and intertwined and the depth of the characters' pasts are explored. It's got me figuratively licking my fingers after an episode, waiting for the next.
I didn't immediately realize that the bombs and flood were during the events of the movie and not a subsequent development.
I still freaking love the music choices. Perfect integration of music with scene; and the lighting and photography and grading are just mwah—deliciously deep and textured.

This episode just made me care about the kid, I hope he will not die by the end as we know that this is Gotham, and Oz man such a bastard! Being too good for the kid in making him realize that he's also a complete man with that waiter scene.
I don't know how to get back to Whitaker crime show 'Godfather of Harlem' when I got a taste of this show with the quality that this gives. Purely topnotch
