And so Karmaic irony rears back it's pimp hand and slaps the guilty not with alacrity, but softly, to remind the penitent of his overreaction to a like gesture, which placed him in his current predicament, and finally, on the wrong side of the tarmac. It is written that, "For though a righteous man falls seven times, he will get up, but the wicked will stumble into ruin. For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity. For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity"....

Each character in this drama was tested by both the circumstance the found themselves in, their reactions to those circumstances, their own frailties, and ultimately their character. Character, is doing the right thing when you think no one is watching, or when many are watching, and, trying to goad you into going against what you know is right. All of these characters had flaws, faults, defects and shortcomings, but, those who overcame them ultimately were able to survive.

This, along with the first episode was the strongest of the 6 episode arc, and, I truly hope Netflix decides to continue the story, especially since the source novel, "The Old Axolotl" by Jacek Dukaj, provides plenty more material if Netflix wants to continue the show.

The official plot synopsis for the novel reads: "The Old Axolotl is an exhilarating post-apocalyptic tale about a world in which a cosmic catastrophe has sterilized the Earth of all living things. Only a small number of humans have managed to copy digitalized versions of their minds onto hardware in the nick of time". "Deprived of physical bodies, they continue to exist by uploading themselves onto gigantic industrial robots, sophisticated medical machines, mechs designed for hard labor, military drones, star troopers and sexbots based on Japanese manga."

Sounds like "Westworld", "Avatar", and "Starship Troopers all rolled into one.... Could be fun, yes?

In our current world wide calamity, may we always remember, that, even if we make mistakes and stumble, it is NOT the stumbling that defines us, but, that is only the case if we, as Chief Dan George so humorously once explained, "endeavor to persevere".. May the powers that be endeavor to make another season of "Into the night"...
