Red Woods 2021

Let me start off by saying that two of my favorite horror sub-genres are Found Footage and Wood Survival movies. I was excited about this movie going into it because of that. I should have went in with lower expectations.

The movie had a good premise and a beautiful setting. It's downfall was the garbage writing and very subpar acting. Unfortunately, whoever wrote and directed this couldn't decide exactly what kind of movie it wanted to be and the movie suffered for it. The characters were extremely wooden and showed very little personality. Except for a few scenes, it legit felt like the actors had zero passion for the movie they were trying to bring to life. Some of the actors showed sparks of being decent but most were just bad. I don't know if it was crappy direction or if the actors were just bad. The guy who played the killer was just not scary. He felt more like the druggie who lives in the corner meth den.

If some scenes had been discarded, like Cross going all PTSD nuts over the guy talking about government handouts which was so badly placed, written and acted that I almost stopped watching there.. If some acting had been better and the direction had been competent, this could have been very good.
