Sequels are hard, legacy sequels are even harder. Unfortunately, B2 struggles to justify its existence.

It's not a disaster. The cast is all at the top of their game (aside from that bland af bad guy). And Burton's weirdness means that at least it's never really boring. But like... Why?

What new story is told here that wasn't told in the original? Other than: OK, let's do all that stuff again, but now it's about the next generation, and it's a little more sentimental than the first one. And instead of one shrunken head guy, we have a whole bunch of them.

I like Jenna Ortega as much as the next guy, but what's the point of her story exactly? Just because that's how legacy sequels are supposed to work?

I loved Monica Bellucci's character, but they they didn't really do anything with her. Would've loved to see more of her and less of milquetoast Karsten Runquist.
