Sacrilegious to say, but I think this might be better than the original? But I do say that as someone that has zero nostalgia for this franchise. Keeps all the Tim Burton panache and zany antics, but brings modern production values and grandeur (shout out the Monica Bellucci introduction sequence). Some may argue that strips some of the quaint charm of its predecessor, and I'd agree the lack of film grain and overly clean presentation is a bit out of place, but the overall package on offer here is just more complete and well realised for me. Enough winking and nodding is done to the original while offering a pleasant extension to the nuggets of story left behind in the first entry, its by no means fantastic, but as another fun foray into the world of the dead, BB delivers.
