Another sort of pointless, gory zombie flick with a couple of fun twists. (I love zombie animals!) It's long, which seemed to bother some, but not me. I was entertained the whole time. Haven't watched the prequel about the bank robber yet. Doesn't look that interesting, but maybe some day.
this is really bad.....i give it 3/10 . what a waste of time.
Let’s go to zombieland without any walkie talkie… Lol
Wasn’t the best and it wasn’t bad…just your typical zombie film
So many 1 and 2 in ratings and so many bad reviews. Stupid characters, dull and pointless plot with holes! Are you people serious, is a zack snyder film , in Netflix, about zombies! You need some Oscar performances and fantastic writing, go to the OSCAR channel or something (don't know if that exists)
Totally fun pop-corn movie, gore, a lot of blood, nothing made sense but you can expect that. My only bad in the entertaining was the duration, waaaaay too long. waiting for the sequel or prequel or whatever will be the army of thieves.
The camera's focus is so constantly out of whack and shifting that I feel like I'm going through SSRI withdrawal.
I was left thinking wow, what this could have been
Dont get ne wrong it's a good movie, explaining the situation in a montage at the beginning was a great idea to get straight into the action. The characters were just bits and pieces all over the place
and the end zombie fight Meh I also thought the ending was so obvious how about if Scott had hid his bite, then after biting his daughter they walk off into the sunset to start a new army of the dead . I like the idea of that 6/10
This is the only Zack Snyder film I've made it through in years without groaning. Not amazing, but not the worst movie. plus, Zombie Tiger! Awww.....
If Zack Snyder only directs, well, if he does everything like this one, his head goes crazy, entertaining but predictable, the final scene is less credible than the stunts of fast & furious 8
There are many plot holes. This is a B grade movie. If you switched off your brain before hitting play, you might enjoy it.
Lots of fun references, didn't take itself too seriously. Nice take on zombies.
Themes (tone, impact) 0.5
Acting and characters 0.5
Story (writing, direction, pacing) 0.5
Aesthetic (sets, special effects, score) 1
Enjoyment 1
3.5/5
i mean, they couldn't expect me to take these cheesy dialogues seriously right??
Wtf was that
like
shit i regret watching it for real!
Special effects are well made, but the acting is really poor.
Not the best zombie movie, but it's not everyday you get something like this. I gave an 8 for being quite different. And it's quite entertaining too.
This movie was just full on fun! Of course the plot was predictable. Of course the dialogue was simple and cheesy. Of course the characters do simple, stupid things. It's a horror movie.
I traditionally pause movies about a thousand times to do miscellaneous things in the house. With the length being 2.5 hrs I figured I'd be watching this over two days. Not so. It's the 1st movie in a very long time that held my interest throughout.
After all is said and done, I think my favorite character was Marianne (the pilot). Even though she wasn't in it long and her lines were short, I just loved her salty demeanor.
Oh, and we can't forget Valentine. :tiger2:
If you want perfect dialogue and award winning acting with fully fleshed out characters, I suggest you skip the action and horror genres. If you just want a mindless fun romp with cheesy lines, posturing, crazy kill scenes, and non-stop fun, watch this movie.
Man what a selfish bitch Kate (Ella Purnell) was.. makes me remember why I dislike Snyder, stick to super hero movies in the future PLEASE!
mediocre acting, weak script. some of the SFX were cool. this Snyder fella made some weird creative decisions when it comes to how some of the scenes were filmed. I don't mind a little blurr now and then , but I swear this fella put all of nana's vaseline on the lens for an emotional dramatic scene.
best enjoyed with some inebriation.
I know it's just a movie but the bitch should have died:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:, all the people she disobeyed for died and that sec guy got what he deserved:rofl:
Wow just finished watching Army of the Dead by Zack Snyder.
And I loved it, awesome movie.
Good plot. Good soundtrack. Good effects. Good make-up. Interesting script. The performances are also a big highlight, each character with their own style and their own style of story. It's quite entertaining from my point of view.
Snyder is making it clear that he can direct absolutely anything (even if there are some things in the movie that are weak). I think this universe has potential for many more movies like what we got used to with "Dawn of the Dead", but still good job Zack.
disgusting don't waste your time
Every time Ella Purnell character came on screen i wanted to stop watching the movie.. i cant remember when was the last time i saw such a irritating performance... Good thing is once i start watching a movie i have to finish it, movie is solid 6/10... but Ella Purnell takes 2 grades down
The idea of taking the video game "Dead Rising" and mixing it with the movie "Ocean's Eleven" appeared interesting to me. But, like a date that starts out with promise and ends with a walk of shame, so does my relationship with this movie. Too much talking, too long a running time, too many subplots, predictable story and forced humor left me feeling empty. And, if the best acting and emotional impact is provided by the head zombie when he lost his fetus , then I should have said no to the invite. I'm such a slut for giving my time to this movie when Shaun of the Dead is out there at a Redbox.
The tiger was cool
Was not worth the hype....
I'm kinda liking this BAUTISTA guy much more than the ROCK guy.
Went in with zero expectations and came out whelmed. Adequately fine for this genre.
What if Superman was reborn has a zombie and one guy of the guardian of the galaxy had to stop him? Well this is not that movie but it’s an action packed zombie movie. So many kick ass scenes resemble John wick shooting Russians but nothing compares to the final fight scene that truly make us remember T2 vs T1000. Don’t expect an art piece just some classical characters and a lot flesh eating and mind blowing.
there's a lot of suspension of disbelief to be had to enjoy this movie, but i definitely did enjoy it. i think for what it is it's pretty good, it's a somewhat generic solid budget zombie film, and i automatically love movies that are set in dystopian wasteland version of vegas because it's like 99% more realistic than the ~sin city~ everyone seems to believe we are. (no we're literally a desert wasteland.) but i will say having had zero idea about the casting issues and tig's cgi placement, i didn't notice anything supremely off or uncanny valley about her. i'd say if you don't know to look for it, it's perfectly convincing cgi, especially when it's surrounded by a bunch of other special effects.
3/10 if that. The rooftop shot where the king jumps towards and into the helicopter has been so many times, even in zombie flicks. Very unoriginal, the setup for the next one was dumb and what I didn’t get was bautistas character gives the money to his daughter, for the kids back at the camp. Wasn’t the camp just nuked with all Las Vegas?
Whimsical at it's best. realistic ending :satisfied:
So many goddamn plot holes but what the hell, some zombie killing is better than no zombie killing.
I gave it 6/10. I actually thought i will enjoy it, but i didn't. Must they all die...? Just a normal movie where some guys are sent on a wild goose chase.
the only thing I find interesting is the Cranberries -Zombie song towards the ending.
I do love Zombie flicks, new, old, corny, comedy and even awful. I was excited when I first heard this was coming to Netflix, but I didn’t hold out huge expectations, after all most zombie films aren’t well done.
I was even less hopeful when I saw the cover art and thought it would fall in to the category of corny or comedy. Then, 5 minutes in to the film, my heart sunk and I expected bad things.
However, in fairness it’s not a bad film overall, but it’s not exactly a typical zombie film. It’s more of an action adventure about a heist with zombies thrown in for good measure. A great zombie horror, is about the fear of being eaten alive, your loved ones turning and the suspense etc; this film didn’t have any of this.
It wasn’t a disaster at all, I still enjoyed their take on zombies. I definitely felt a ‘Silent Hill’, ‘Michael Corvin - Underworld’ and ‘Legend’ influence.
Sadly, it went too far when the main zombie was riding a horse, especially with such poise and he was wearing a cloak, this spoilt it for me.
Generally, I thought they did a decent attempt at the zombies, but they either took too much on or ran out of budget. There were a couple of spotlight scenes on the zombies, where apart from ripped clothes, they were missing makeup and simply looked like people jumping about. The first time it happened was when the main zombie went with his hoard to rescue his mate. That spoilt things slightly for me and I lost my concentration.
I was quite annoyed towards the end; our main character left the roof to fly directly to another building. The main zombie at this point is downstairs, deep in the building, outside the safe. Seconds later, our main zombie is galloping on his horse, moments from reaching the building which the main character was on route too, in his helicopter. And above, but behind the zombie on a horse, is the helicopter :helicopter:? How on earth did the zombie get ahead? There were a few errors such as this, I’m not sure how these weren’t rectified.
I did enjoy the wee twist at the end. They made you feel it was going to have a predictable end with certain characters, but it didn’t. But, only swapped it for another predictable ending, which left it wide open for a sequel. Very corny, but fun.
I’m being picky obviously, I give the film an 8. But, that’s more for overall enjoyment. It was fun to watch.
It’s a good, solid, enjoyable, fun film, but if you’re a die hard zombie fanatic, please don’t watch it expecting that fix you need, it will be a disappointment.
This is one of the coolest zombie movies I've ever watched I mean it has a freaking zombie tiger.
How do you spend money in a 2h30 movie that bad? Its Netflix.
We have money, we have skills, we have story and then:
Bad education, when your father say no, its no or a slap.
Endless ammo guns, but it end when needed.
Guys with guns that shoot everything except to save friends.
Netflix ideology, a lot of content with no content.
Glad i dont pay it.
very good..lotta action, blood, guts...story egg..listen to it with some Xtra bass headphones for a rockin time
wish they filmed in vibrant color not black and white filter like all these new movies like bait was filmed. colorful. very beginning great and end was great, zombies scary as shit. I wouldn't go for any money. they could of picked better cast. hopefully there's another movie. alot of talking in this one. need more zombies throughout but when they had them they were scary
Well... at least the visuals were ok.
overall like this movie a lot better than I thought it was
is it perfect no is it a masterpiece no
this is pretty much a typical soldiers of Fortune
heist heist movie with a zombie apocalypse thrown in for good measure The wheeled building is pretty interesting there are some very interesting rules to this world zombies in the movie really does some cool new stuff with the idea Also setting the movie in Las Vegas allows for some fun shenanigans in regard to the zombies and just some good physical humor as well
You have a fun little cast of characters nothing too amazing on the acting front there are some stupid decisions sure but what zombie movie is there with all the characters make perfect decisions ?
overall it's a pretty fun action movie a little bit long there's definitely a lot of fat could be trimmed
some silly things that just don't make sense logically or physically here's looking at you perfectly balanced handgun sitting on the edge of a helicopter that's moving that just really annoyed me lol
Just a bad movie. would have been better if it was 75 minutes long
Not a good movie, by far. Very predictable as the plot really is quite simple and many times makes no sense at all. Very cheesy and the ending is really a downer, quite depressive indeed. However, it has excellent shoot-them-up action sequences and it looks amazing on the screen. Really nice photography, make up and VFX. The moral of the story is - at least for me-, don't you dare to care for any of the characters. None of them. The documentary of the movie is way better than the movie itself.
I dont understand all the hate. All i know for sure is I watched it and i was intrigued all the way through, even if I was playing games at the same time. I did not come into this expecting anything special, its a gdamn zombie movie -- I only hoped to not be bored, and that's exactly what I got.
I kinda love Batista :) Also JUICE!!!!!! <3
Starts out an 8 and devolves into a meh ppphhhfffrrrttt
Zack Snyder seems to have the unique talent to make things that sound great on paper, no fun at all in execution.
I cannot dignify this movie by giving it a rating. it is that bad!
oh hell no! what a load of crap! I waited anxiously for this!?!!! If you value your life do not watch.
purnell should be dead in this movie... annoying as fuk..the music not suitable at all..stupid ending..i guess this is why they aren't in cinema
While not quite in the fetid pile of steaming crap category, this movie was far from entertaining or engaging. The combination of long action sequences, eye catching visual effects, and too many overly complex internal conflicts leaves a movie that doesn't know when enough is enough and wears the viewer down.
Unfortunately, it seems in editing things got missed and the end piece just wasn’t good. The walking dead did better zombies I thought. Too much fake blood. It was hard to finish this movie. Dave was the wrong pick for the main lead.

Zack Snyder returns to zombies in the Netflix film Army of the Dead. In the last days of the Zombie War as the government prepares to nuke the remaining zombies quarantined in Las Vegas, one of the casino owners contracts a team to go in covertly and get his money out of the vault before it’s destroyed. Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, and Garret Dillahunt lead the cast and give solid performances. The writing however, is really poor with a lot of underdeveloped ideas and half-ass social commentary. There’s also a certain nihilism to the story that kind of negates some of the heroism and sacrifice. Still, the action and fight scenes are incredibly well-done and are full of tension and suspense. And the soundtrack is quite good; setting a dystopian mood. It’s entertaining and delivers some thrillers, but overall Army of the Dead is a mess that’s unable to mix the heist and zombie genres in a satisfying way.
