So what can I say? Action, adventure, entertainment, whatever you are looking for, this movie has it in abundance. Godzilla and Kong are truly a perfect duo. They portrayed it very well in the movie anyway. The graphics were beyond perfect. It's not like it can be explained. If you're reading this review and haven't watched the movie yet, watch it now. One word: It was perfect.
I feel like they struck the right balance of people vs monsters with this one. Previous films were too people heavy.
I really like this movie! I like the fight sequences, I really like King Kong's character and the little Kong too. Overall the movie had good balance between action and a little comedy with great special effects.
My friend had dragged me along to this film as a return favour for forcing them to sit through Madame Web (thank you my dear). I had not once seen a Godzilla OR Kong movie, so you can imagine I was pretty damn confused watching this movie. Thankfully my friend was a good sport and explained everything to me that I was supposed to know, but didn’t.
Surprisingly, I had a super fun time watching this movie and I think I love Kong very dearly now. It’s a very CGI heavy movie, I mean, it’s about giant monsters?? But it was super fun nonetheless and the fights were epic. It was awesome watching Little Kong be a brave little guy for stepping up to Skar. We love you dude!
Obviously my favourite part of the movie was watching Little Kong get thrown around by Big Kong, isn’t that everyone’s?!?! The story of the guy was so sweet but so upsetting. I hope he has the best new life ever with Big Kong.
The story was very interesting to me and I enjoyed learning about the Iwis and the part they played in all of this. The bonding of Jia and her mother was just so cute to me. I’m glad Jia decided to stay with Ilene instead of leaving her, despite what Ilene thought she wanted to do.
Not much to say about Godzilla, in fact I couldn’t care less about the guy. Kong is my new buddy (Godzilla was never my buddy in the first place…), my new bestie, we tight for real. Happy Godzilla turned pink though, that’s my favourite colour.
This movie was a visual feast for the eyes! Hallow earth was absolutely stunning. And the 3D effects were masterfully done. Really gave the impression of distance and scale when comparing the size of the titans. It was finally a war of the monsters on the big screen. Totally worth a trip to the theater.

Didn’t expect anything from this film. How wrong I was, fucking brilliant! If you’ve expecting Oscar winning acting performances and scripts you’re in the wrong place. If you just want hardcore cool and funny film this is the place. Anyone that disses this has no sense of humour or fun and basically lives at home with their parents masturbating all day.

As a lover of all things King Kong, I went into this movie with high hopes and wasn't disappointed. We pick up in Hollow Earth, watching Kong explore his new home while Godzilla is preparing for a battle against an enemy no one has seen yet, and Jia is seeing visions she doesn't understand. The stories of all of our favorite characters are women together in such an interesting way and the battle scenes are both insane and gorgeous. We also meet several new characters - including my favorite little guy Mini Kong - who were incredibly fun to watch. I clapped, fist pumped, and even cried in the end.
Bernie and Trapper tried to drag this old school titan movie down but apes together (plus Godzilla) strong .

It's a very good film, I went with low expectations, but I was surprised, the film has some slurred dialogue, but other than that, it's a visual spectacle, it's beautiful!
There are lots of Fights, Mini Kong, Puppy and much more! Overall, a fun film that delivers a lot!

I went in looking for Kong and Godzilla wrecking shop and that was exactly what I got.
This one was truly great. And why? Well, they didn’t made us spend time with Monarch politics and hyper elaborated family dramas! What’s left? The best part, amazing action scenes with the monsters and human that participate with no intention of grabbing the spotlight. I just wish they could go back to all the previous and re-release a “no bad guys from monarch” edition

influencers overhyped it by saying that it would be the second coming of Christ, an Avengers Infinity War event or that it would be an action packed John Wick style, but hey, in the end it is a Monsterverse movie. Anyway, it's not bad at all, very fun and the action scenes have been completely incredible. The human part does not feel like a pain in the ass and the plot despite not being brilliant, serves to develop Kong. Mini-Kong rocks

This is a quite good huge monster bash feast. The fact that the well known, utterly useless, far-left rotten site gave it a rotten rating, with a audience score of 91(!) percent, was of course a indication that it was going to be a entertaining movie.
It is a simple huge monster bash feast plain and simple. It is a movie ment to entertain and nothing else. There was next to none woke. far-left preaching and the little messaging there was was more of the governments are really stupid kind.
There is actually a story in this movie and it is not bad. Sure, it is on the low IQ part of the spectrum but it is on the mid to higher end of what you would expect from this kind of movie.
Of course this is a movie driven by its special effects and I cannot say that I was disappointed. The scenery is oftentimes quite beautiful and the action whether it takes place on the surface, with the property destruction one would expect from a Godzilla & Kong movie, or down in hollow earth is very good.
I saw some people complaining that the CGI was poor. I don’t know which movie they watched but it was not this one.
Actually this movie is exactly what you would expect, or at least hope, from a Godzilla & Kong movie and those one and two star ratings are just ridiculous. If you don’t like huge monsters and a lot of destruction, do not watch a movie where that is the main theme.
I read that it was the highest grossing Godzilla movie of all times so one can hope there will be more of these.
I thought the Hollow Earth stuff would be a total waste of time, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The story made some sense, the effects were great, and I also had childhood vibes from the good old original films.
Especially since there were more Asian actors and the Mothra performance was really great.
I still think the franchise belongs in Asian hands, but I see the Monsterverse as an interpretation of the West that can definitely stand on its own.
For me it's an 8 out of 10 because these days it's really difficult for me to stay in front of the screen without interruption - and they managed to do that.

You know you’re getting a popcorn flick and not a masterpiece like Godzilla Minus One. This is an enjoyable and somewhat better movie than the last Godzilla and Kong movie.. It’s just a bit rushed throughout.
With a lot of convenient moments. Especially the origins of why Kong is wearing that robotic glove from the trailers. Spoiler: they just happened to have made it. When he just happened to have needed it.
You also know Kong will meet more of his species when he just happens to be lonely in the movie as well. The Kong and Mini-Kong scenes are well done though.
Human wise Dan Stevens steals the show as pretty much an English Starlord. Where rock music is played whenever he is shown.
Brian Tyree Henry‘a tags along wanting to take photos for the doubters of his podcast. That doesn’t really go anywhere. Since the movie ends without even answering if he posted all the footage he took. Of secret tribes, monsters and etc.

Same recipe as Godzilla vs. Kong, it's dumb, it silly, it's full of problems but it's exactly what I want from a Kaiju movie: over-the-top non-stop titan action fun!
It has the same problems as Godzilla vs. Kong, the humans storyline brings the movie down and the story feels like it was made up along the way. Some continuity errors, it demands a suspension of disbelief and A LOT of plot conveniences. The dialogue is so cheap and the constant exposition by the humans is frustrating.
Godzilla is once again a secondary character in his own movie and Kong gets all the spotlight and story arcs. BUT at the same time Kong is better equipped to be the central character as he has more humanity. The dynamics between him and Suko "mini Kong" were the heart of this movie.
The best thing about this is the action, there's so much of it and it's epic. So much CGI it's basically an animated movie. The adventure to Hollow Earth (part 2) was better than the last i'd say, discovering the unexplored parts, seeing new creatures and going in deeper into the lore of the titans was interesting. Dan Stevens was my favorite character, he's funny and entertaining even though his character could be erased from the movie and it wouldn't change much.
I wish that little girl wasn't in the movie, not a fan. Scarking was introduced too late in the movie and he didn't feel like a big enough threat on his own. Epic final battle but the action was a bit hard to follow at times. What was the point of Godzilla being pink?

Good monsterverse movie. However..
7 is a good rating for a monster movie. The action scenes were great. The story was weak as always. The side story about those native people is so unnecessary, I watch these movie to see monsters fight not to see some random chosen girl free a moth.
The size comparisons in this movie were awful, one moment the ice Godzilla was bigger then the normal Godzilla and the next scene he was smaller then Kong. That little monkey was small, and in rio he is taller then skyscrapers. Very bad execution by the producers.
Scar face is the worst monster I have ever seen, arms so small as paper, but the strength of Kong. How the fuck can Godzilla every lose to that

Maybe I'm just too old for this kind of movie. Where I loved Godzilla Minus One, I was mostly bored here. Maybe if I was 12. Thats about where the target audience for this is. Some cool fights and effects, but nothing with any substance here.
Went in expecting very little and walked out satisfied. I don't think I'd rate it this highly had I waited for the digital release on vod. Glad we hit up the cinema for this archetypal popcorn flick. Some of these movies don't have enough of the actual monster mashing. This one has it in spades and it was great fun. Some of the dialogue was brutally cringe, but on the whole it was a worthwhile adventure to seek out. 6.7
Yes, yes, yes. Finally they listened to us! I loved the monster scenes so so so much. The sound, the soundtrack, the visuals, the speed and slow mo, the emotion, and most of all, the characterisation of not only two of the most iconic monsters but Baby Kong too. The casting was awful, but I wasn't as bothered as we actually got a monster pov movie. The only thing I recommend for the next movie is the over exposed trailer. Yes, it brings hype, but it also breaks down a lot of the tension as we know what's to come. The feel-good fun sequences blew me into hollow earth. HOW DO THEY MAKE THESE?

I really wanted to hate it, because the last one wasn't that great. Plus the middle earth with sunlight and just sheer nonsense.... like millions dying just because titans fighting. eh ..
But the actors as nonsensical as the story is give a pretty good show pretending it's all real. That's their jobs afterall and they do it justice.
But man, the effects and the end fight is just cool as hell, like flashback to my childhood watching the old Godzilla movies on TV when they would show one.
7.5/10. I rounded down only because it's going to be an 7-8 for old Godzilla movie fans. It's a 7 if you like an action flick full of mythical creatures kicking ass.
"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" is a thrilling continuation of the MonsterVerse saga, delivering an epic showdown that fans of the franchise have eagerly anticipated.
Again, Hollywood marketing team of this movie screwed up the trailer. They Americanized the trailer into super monster brawl, while the movie itself, despite having super monster brawl, has a good atory to tell. It's better than advertised.
As forbthe human side, which every Godzilla films were all about, leave it to Dan Stevens to create a very fun to watch Trapper character. He was the unexpected sparks throughout the film, proofing his acting ability was far underrated.
Little woke lady boss messages were highlighted, but not dominant enough to ruin the whole film.

It's a nice film to watch late Sunday evening, just before bed, nothing else.
Skull Island is still undefeated as MVP of the Monsterverse (Monarch is out there as well).

Well well well it’s exactly what I wanted/expected from the good to the bad. I wasn't expecting Godzilla: Minus One quality so as long as I got a colourful Royal Rumble of monsters beating the crap out of each other I'm certainly in for a fun ride so I was but unfortunately lost a few brain cells during my experience with this especially. This movie is fun but at the same time, it's so dumb which was kinda expected, if the goal after the previous one was to make it more fun and even dumber then they exceeded. Was that whole secret civilization really necessary especially the kid like why do they continue to make humans an essential part of the story seriously nobody cares about these characters. A couple of final things to mention how is Rebecca Hall's character somehow reading a bunch of straight lines and somehow giving a very detailed story so stupid but not as ridiculous as not to mention the hundreds of thousands of people killed in that final fight scene in Rio?
If you're willing to lose a few brain cells then definitely give it a go.
It has given me much more than I expected in giant animals and fights and less than I had to spare, humans, very good. Those fights are cool
I liked the wordless storytelling parts and all the stuff without any humans, who are always the weakest narrative link in movies like this. I will say I liked the addition of Dan Stevens's Kaiju Doctor character, but that's the one exception.
This movie repeats one of GvK's mistakes by limiting Godzilla's screen time to much less than Kong's, and if Legendary keeps doing this, I'd say they'll lose Toho's permission to use the character going forward. Speaking of the treatment of Godzilla, I think the new "Evolved" design is almost too reminiscent of the 1998 Emmerich film. I hope it's not a permanent change, and that any sequels hand-wave it away as "oh, he absorbed all that radiation, but then the effects wore of I guess".
However, despite my gripes, I think this film and the 2019 King of the Monsters movie are the best Americanized versions of classic Showa era Toho Kaiju Brawler Flicks we're likely to get. As and old school Toho fan, my advice to Legendary is to take a step back and return to the tried and true "Godzilla vs." formula, and to bring back more of the classic Toho monsters.
In the end, is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire objectively a good film? No. But, does it deliver on being a big, fun, entertaining movie about Giant Monster Fights to delight a classic Toho fan? Yes

1. Godzilla (2014) / Kong: Skull Island (2017) — Could be mistaken for actual good movies
2. Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019 / Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) — Big dumb fun monster brawl movies
3. Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) — meh
Lanky Kong gives a superb performance as the villain.
Anyone who didn't like "Godzilla vs. Kong" because the movie was too stupid for their liking will certainly not warm up to "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" either. Because in this sequel, the human characters are even more superfluous and remain flat throughout. If someone were to tell me that the story was written entirely by an AI, I wouldn't be at all surprised. I don't expect a movie to be based on reality, but the whole thing could have been a little less contrived.
Ultimately, "Godzilla x Kong" feels more like a cartoon than anything else, which at least means it offers some really spectacular monster action. Kong is clearly the star of the movie; Godzilla has more of a supporting role. When they all clash, however, things get pretty wild, and that's when the movie is the most fun. The villain is somewhat underwhelming, though. And the fact that humans no longer play a serious role is also evident in the fact that there is no human antagonist this time.
If I had to single out one actor, I think it would be Dan Stevens, who plays a hippie Titan vet. He sets a big exclamation mark with his very first scene. Unfortunately, the tone of his character is not maintained after that. Meanwhile, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry have nothing to contribute, which is probably mainly due to the script.
But how should one rate the movie? If you just want to see mindless but spectacular monster action, then I can warmly recommend "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." But to be really drawn in, I would like to see a little more depth in the plot. However, I think that director Adam Wingard has made exactly the movie he wanted to make. Accordingly, the movie doesn't feel like it was created by a committee, which I can certainly appreciate.

I don't expect anything deep from my western Godzilla movies. I just want some Kaiju action and we got plenty. We got a Godzilla suplex, we got Kong using Mini-Kong as a stick to slap other apes around. We got an Ape name Skar King who uses a whip-like weapon with a tip that controls another Kaiju. One that used TM13 to get Ice Beam. Godzilla looks great charged up. We even got Mothra! And a great update for Kong! Yes, the Kaiju bit was solid.
I do enjoy the human characters but they are just here to string the Kaiju setpieces together. Which is not a bad thing.
Anyway if they continue the Monsterverse this way, I will be pleased. For the great Godzilla movies I look towards the Japanese ones. Still very happy the Godzilla franchise is still going strong today.
While still lengthy and incoherent at times, this film feels like an upgrade from the last one. It is not as painfully boring and at least not divided into subplots that barely connect. It still feels like "Kong feat. some Godzilla" which is a bit unfortunate, but at least this time the storytelling sort of works.
The human characters are also not as insufferable this time around. The mother-daughter bond between Dr. Andrews and Jia is quite touching, Bernie is not as annoying as he was in the last film and serves more of a purpose and Dan Steven's plays probably the most unhinged and fun human character in the franchise so far.
On a technical level it's not the most impressive looking CGI the franchise has used yet, but works fine and the action sequences are a lot of fun to watch. But boy, do I wish they would get Bear McCreary back to score these movies
Anyways, Kong adopts a rebellious child, Godzilla is in his pink Lovers era and Queen Mothra returns.
What a let down after the all round great Godzilla Minus One.

This flick is pretty much the same quality level as Godzilla vs. Kong. Generally, the Legendary Monsterverse is better whenever Kong is around and this is definitely better than the Monarch series on Apple+ which wasn't even referenced on this. Good action, but ultimately just loud and chaotic. Never nervous for the characters or worried about if GxK were going to save the day. Ho hum.
Just give us 100% pure Kong and Godzilla in next movie. No human needed
This Kong was better than the previous one. The “story” was good for an action film, and the action did not disappoint. The CGI had some flubs, and Kong’s height changed from scene to scene, but for this type of movie, who cares. It was non stop smash and punch.
Wasn’t impressed with the trailer, and really it shows you what to expect which is some silly over the top action with very little story or heart to go with it. But I actually had more fun watching it than I expected. I went with my teenage son who enjoyed it quite a bit, the 3D was pretty good and it was a good way to spend the evening.
Big, dumb, fun! I liked how the new original kaiju were plays on Manda and Anguirus, or at least they seemed that way to me. I wish Mothra did more, and I didn't care much for the evil monkey dude. And as always with the monsterverse movies the human characters were kinda just there, I do hope they give them some kind of little side-plot next time like they usually get in the Showa-era movies but whatever. Overall I had a good time with this.

Godzilla x Kong more like Kong ft. Godzilla. Bro didn't have any screentime in his own movie.
Anyways this doesn't even feel like you're watching the latest monsterverse movie but more like the same old movie you've seen a morbillion times. There's literally no story or plot and the added exposition does nothing to the already hollow plot. Don't get me wrong the action was fantastic, the CGI was great but as always there's so much of it. Bernie was funny as heck and I loved his performance and also that pewdiepie looking guy was fine too I guess.
Initially I wanted to give this a light 6 but there's just so much criticism. I hate that little girl she adds nothing until she's forced to, the whole movie she was like an NPC with two default emotes ☹:slight_smile:. Scarking is probably the most underwhelming villain yet, my guy is built like damn stick, not threatening at all, also he could've been introduced way earlier in the movie. I love the action but there's just so much of it at the end, basically a CGI-fest, my head started to hurt after a while probably because I watched it in 3d. The main thing that brings the movie down is again the human characters, silly and boring dialogue and over the top humor from Trapper, like Bernie was funny but Trapper didn't really do it for me. I love Kong and his story arc was really great with mini-kong but come on we all love Godzilla more, he is just too OP. I think we all know they'll never add a story ever in a monster-verse movie but eh it is what it is I guess.
Guess I won't be beating the "bro doesn't know how to have fun" allegations.

I understand the complaints of it feeling weightless, of the cgi not being the greatest, the heavy exposition, the thinly drawn human characters (though Tyree Henry, Stevens, and Hall do their best). I get it all. But I am not immune to giant monkeys. I pop when Kong beats up other apes with a baby ape or knocks out an uppity ape with one punch. And I think the wordless ape scenes were surprisingly clever in conveying information. Godzilla was underserved though, and I think they could’ve utilized those same strengths for more Kong and Zilla scenes to emphasize a buddy cop odd couple energy. The previous film had a big prize fight novelty energy this one lacks, and that could’ve helped. It’s nothing special, but it’s a fun enough time.
The only thing Godzilla x Kong did well at was making me appreciate Godzilla Minus One tenfold.

'Godzilla × Kong: The New Empire' is not a good movie, in my opinion anyway. It is similar to its predecessor in that sense at least, this is a minute improvement on that 2021 entry mind. It's basically a Kong film though, Godzilla goes missing for large periods. There is less human to be found onscreen which is good to see, but what's added in its place with Kong is just so dull to me.
The needless humanising of Kong continues, though this time it's actually done in and around the other monsters because... well, actually I'm not sure why monsters are acting human-like to each other but, eh, the movie, I guess. That Suko young ape character is particularly annoying too, it sounded like a clown horn and looks more belonging to that one Coldplay music video.
The whole film feels like if 'Avatar' and the 'Planet of the Apes' reboots had a baby and that's not a positive. It felt watching that it was also taking bits and pieces from other films too, mind perhaps that's just me reaching? The best scene of it all features the two titular characters in Giza, their bits together in Hollow Earth are decent too but their opponents are incredibly lame.
Cast-wise, it's OK. Rebecca Hall and Kaylee Hottle are as fine as previously, Brian Tyree Henry is marginally improved and Dan Stevens is serviceable. None of the others are all that noteworthy to me, but that actually is a true plus for this production; last time out I wanted less humans and less humans is what we get here.
My review kinda reads as if I hate this 2024 release. I do not, there are far worse pictures out there of course. It's just a heap of disappointment. I guess I just want pure, turn-off-your-brain titan carnage from these flicks, which evidently is not what the Monsterverse is necessarily trying to do... that's probably on me.
Catching up on this franchise has made me want to even more check out the 'proper' Godzilla releases out of Japan, so there is that. As for these American ones, I like 'Kong: Skull Island' at least...

Seriously, don't waste your time watching this.
I really wanted to love this film, it was like the avengers of Kong x Godzilla, but from it's first shots, the CGI was very poor, it felt like it's a 2000s video game, not a movie at all.
The storylines has so many boring details, I liked that most of the time was the action scenes , I wished if the CGI was better than this.
Nice soundtrack, but it's a bad movie.
As a Brazilian, the only thing really good about this movie was to see Rio being destroyed, and the CGI is good too, not "really good", but ok good.
They tried to make an epic movie but it was full of cliché.
Much roar, less and less sense. Only the aliens in the next part can top that.

If you like Kaijuu movies and Kong then this is the movie for you. I, for one realized after watching this movie that I don’t like them. Even though I haven’t seen any of the previous movies I didn’t feel lost at all. Didn’t find the human cast enjoyable at all. The stars of course were Godzilla and Kong…and the baby. Every time they were on the film I enjoyed it! Villain was pretty dope too but not memorable.
Like a routine update to your phone's UI: it takes a long time, is technically ok, and not noticeably different than the previous versions.
There are so many new hollow earths I lost track and struggled to care. The fight scenes were decent but the visual aspect that was so striking in Godzilla vs Kong is totally absent in this overblown money grab.

Get rid of the humans!!!! They add nothing to these movies. The best part of these movies did not involve dialogue.
Head empty movie doesn't cut it. I fell asleep for a part of the film. It's just not compelling when Godzilla isn't a villain.
This is the weakest of the of the "Monsterverse" series of films to this point. The CGI is all-out cartoonish, and it makes it nearly impossible to care about what's going on. Nothing looks real and I'm sure the creators of these movies have given up trying to make anything photo realistic. Or maybe it's an intentional choice because moviegoers actually prefer it to be unrealistic. Perhaps CGI has morphed into its own thing and realism is no longer required. That's probably the case and what a sad evolution that is.
The final battle in Rio is so chaotic that even though buildings are being smashed by monster fighting, none of it has any weight, structurally or consequentially. The scale of the monsters on the surface is diminished by the lack of anything to judge their size by when they are in "Hollow Earth". It's a lot like the old Godzilla vs. Megalon film released back in 1973. Godzilla and Jet Jaguar battle Gigan and Megalon and the whole thing takes place in an open field. The size of the kaiju is completely lost by having the fight take place in this setting. Hollow Earth promotes the same kind of scale problems. It's also a mistake to make these huge beasts move with the agility they do in this movie.
The Hollow Earth concept is lame and seems like it's a way to allow for Kong to still be the king of something since Godzilla is the dominant Titan on the planet. The humans in this movie are disposable again and this is even more evident when comparing this film to the far superior Godzilla Minus One, not to mention the stakes raised in Shin Godzilla.
The lack of dialogue, either by an important cast member being deaf or due to a lot of monsters growling and grunting, probably allows the Monsterverse movies to sell well internationally. The necessity for dubs and subtitles is greatly reduced. "You mean I don't have to read!?! Awesome!!!"
It actually pains me to have to write an almost entirely negative review. As a reference, I own EVERY Godzilla movie on physical media and consider it to be my favorite film series. Many, many of them are silly B-movies and some of them I don't even like, but none of them seem as formulaic or as tossed off as Godzilla X Kong.

At least one of these movies nabbed Bryan Cranston (for half of it anyway). The humans in this latest Godzilla/Kong flick were forgettable and often annoying. I kind of spaced on the hidden civilization part in the middle. I didn't care, and it seemed kind of contrived anyway. The action was good, I guess. Godzilla always looks impressive in these movies. This iteration in the series was boring and unnecessary and probably little more than a money grab. The previous films were better. Hell, Skull Island was several times better.
VIP8Oof. It took me three sittings to get through this one and honestly, I'm not sure why I bothered. The writing is Saturday morning cartoon level - a whole bunch of superficial, handwave-y mumbo jumbo. And the action, which theoretically could have been the saving grace, didn't make an impact at all. I can recall memorable scenes from both Godzilla (2014) and Skull Island (2017) after 5+ years. I suspect I won't remember anything from this movie in 5 months.
They obviously decided that to milk this franchise even further they just need to throw an ever increasing amount of CGI monsters at it. This Kong / Godzilla / Planet of the Apes mish mash sets a new low bar for these movies, not hard given how low the bar had sunk in the first place. Purple-zilla seems no more powerful than white-zilla, despite consuming the entire planet’s nuclear energy so it’s down to JCB Kong to save the day aided by his very own, albeit orange, mini-me and a dismal cast cast of actors muddling their way through an even more desperate script. This will definitely be the last of these movies I choose to endure, I’m just glad I didn’t pay to see it! Might be ok if you’re a mega Kong or Zilla head, or if you maybe need a 3 year fix of CGI all in one go, otherwise, hard pass!
Overall a disappointment, monster scenes were decent but the human drama wasn't compelling and got annoying. Main monster was Kong which I understand as its easier to relate to big monkey rather than big lizard but, if you remove godzilla from the movie nothing changes. While some scenes were good I knew about 10 minutes in it was going to be lame and it was. While not the worst godzilla flick it is easily overshadowed and forgettable.

VIP8When did this turn into the new Transformers? At this point it’s pretty much the exact same formula, isn’t it? A combination of big, soulless monster fights interspersed with overqualified actors playing annoying characters. The script and direction suck, but who are we kidding by pretending anyone cares about that. Maybe the direction isn’t quite as lowbrow as Bayformers, but at least those movies had some personality to them. Just look at the difference in scale and visual craft alone. I love how you can tell they spent huge amounts of money on the CGI here, yet there isn’t a single shot where the titular creatures or environments look convincing. As a movie it’s very straightforward, long and generic, clearly aiming to be fun and self-aware but not really getting there due to a lack of eccentricity in its approach. I really don’t think this needs to be as respectable or well written as the latest Planet of the Apes trilogy for it to work. Honestly going for dumb fun makes sense with this material, but what they’ve landed on here feels like Minions for 12 year olds to me, just way too corporate and devoid of any real charm or creativity. You should get someone at the helm here with a really good understanding of silent film, someone who’s willing to bring out more of the absurdity and knows how to build character through motion. The fights should be creative and colourful, they shouldn’t feel like they’re directed by Roland Emmerich. Maybe experiment with a more stylized or heightened reality, as there’s no real reason for most of this to be set in recognizable locations. If the vision continues to be this bland going forward, I feel no desire to check out more of it. It’s one of the most non-descript, forgettable big films in recent memory.

What a dumb movie, what a lost opportunity, why was like that ??? i literally had to FF in many scenes as they were bring and completely for children. An epic fail.
Also, why most of the films and shows now have deaf people, what do they improve on the film and make it so necessary ? is this a new law from PC police ?

No real story other than how to shove as much CGI into a previously solid franchise.
It's worth a few stars, just because they didn't add any 'super-hero landings'.
Re-watch Skull Island is my advice
Boring and shallow human plot. The monster battles are short and boring for most of the movie. Seems most of these Titans can't fight for more than 20 seconds. CGI is mediocre at best. Epic monster fights in the last 30 minutes are the only redeeming quality of the movie.
Cool fighting scenes at the end. But I hate humans having major roles in monster flicks. I just wanna see monsters go grrr!!! Godzilla minus one is the only exception.
A film as stupid as the previous one, but it doesn't fool the viewer. It offers what you want: great battles and good FX. On the downside, the monsters (especially Kong) are being humanized and their history is instantly forgotten.
So Jia is literally from a wizard race now. I think it's about time to either a) wrap it up for these movies or b) just merge it with Harry Potter universe and go bananas.
The "oh we just randomly happened to have this King Kong Powerglove (with... healing powers??) was some of the dumbest and laziest writing I've ever seen even for a Hollywood movie :laughing:

Couldn't even get through half of it. It's the same dumb recipe as Jurassic World and other blockbusters like it. Easy to follow and predictable story, boring/annoying characters and poor attempts at comedy.
Wish we could get a monster movie that doesn't feel like it's on the intellectual level of a 10 year old.
Too human to be beasts. Full of cliches. Linearity for 5 -year -old children. worthy of a chapter by Dora the explorer.

This movie was fantastic. The fights were epic, the CGI and destruction were phenomenal, the roars were very cool, and the scenes moved in a not so fast pace. My favourite character was Kong. He was so smart, powerful, and protective of his allies. The villain was also cool. I loved the Scar King. However, Golden Mothra was magnificent and the most beautiful thing that I have seen in any movie.
