Naranjo, a young Colombian police captain, vows revenge after his friend and mentor, Sgt. Cuevas, is killed in a robbery orchestrated by Liso, a dangerous car thief on the payroll for Colombia's most powerful drug trafficker: Pablo Escobar.
Naranjo and Talero seek to avenge Cuevas' death by tracking down Liso and his shooters. Claudia tries to assure her parents about Naranjo's character. Escobar and Gacha, meanwhile, bring into motion their plan to get rid of Orlando.
Naranjo struggles to control his desire for revenge and to protect his cover. Meanwhile, Liso's sloppy work comes back to him in the form of a beatdown from his boss. Also, Escobar lays out his plan to enter politics.
Liso takes advantage of his presumed death to continue his life of crime in anonymity, and sets out to help Escobar advance his political career. Meanwhile, colonel Luque, Naranjo's father-in-law, gets to know the real Naranjo.
1986. El Liso attacks Naranjo and leaves him at his mercy. However, Fonseca reacts with an accurate shot that saves Naranjo's life and leaves Liso wounded, who escapes and seeks refuge in a hotel. There the Mexican arrives to collect accounts.
1986. Naranjo is intrigued to discover who the author of the compromising photos of him and Rita at the embassy is. He suspects White and has a plan to attack him and expose his clandestine relationship with Wendy, the model with ties to Escobar.
1986. In Washington, Agent Rita denies authoring the photos addressed to Claudia, while Naranjo must take a polygraph to be promoted to the rank of major. There, he gives up after uncomfortable personal questions from Rita.
1986. Drunk and angry, Captain Tobon claims Naranjo for his relationship with Rita. Then he hits Fonseca and chaos erupts. Meanwhile, on the political scene, a new president of the republic is inaugurated despite suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
1987 1988. To obtain the large amounts of drugs, Liso negotiates with the Abadia and leaves Escobar out. Meanwhile, Carlos Ledher loses his island, many of his goods and takes refuge in Escobar's place, in exchange for the little money he has left.
1989 1990. Naranjo seriously questions Rita. The agent does not stay behind and questions Naranjo's integrity. On the other hand, Rita has an informant who knows where the Mexican is hiding. They call him the navigator, but it turns out to be a fiasco.
1988. El Negro and his men attack Martínez and Andrade on suspicion of being police. When Jorge Luis Ochoa's extradition is almost ready, Escobar delivers a successful blow by kidnapping Marina Jaramillo, sister of the president's private secretary.
1988. Claudia gives birth to her second daughter, while Naranjo prepares for an ambitious operation to catch Escobar and Amado Carrillo in the same place. Escobar then plans to kidnap Bogotá's mayoral candidate.
1988. El expresidente Aristóbulo Saldaña se reúne con Naranjo y le pide que rescate a su hijo sin poner en peligro su vida. Por su parte, la agente Martínez se gana la confianza de Desiré, la amante de Escobar, y le hace una propuesta.
