Great first episode from a consistently great show.

Show really picks up towards the end of the first episode. It's a bit of a leap on the decision they make to get back from Los Angeles.

Oliver mistaking Zach Galifinakis for Macaulay Culkin and shouting "What have they done to you?" to his face was hilarious.

Maybe the show's strongest premiere episode, and overall very promising after the listless season 3. It feels invigorated from having a new milieu -- Hollywood brings comedic material fresher and more meta (my personal highlight is the three characters'/performers' style being pointed out) -- and a seemingly harsher murder mystery (that last scene may be the most unsettling the show has ever gotten). Short's and Streep's real-life chemistry also makes their in-show romance even more charming.

True return to form, what a great first episode. I am back on the OMITB glory train.

A wonderful opening episode to the season that throws us back into the story quickly. The three actors playing the main cast are all good picks. The same humor is still here.

Great start. Love how seamless it went from the last season. I enjoyed how we start out knowing more than them, wanting them so badly to see the signs and hints they never catch on to, until, bit by bit, things start falling into place and the big aha moment hits them in the end. The un-fun kind.

Now I really want to watch a movie with Zach and Eugene Levy in Crimedy genre

I really have enjoyed the season so far but one thing I really don't like is how Oliver's been written compared to the other seasons. Oliver's my favourite! But since season three he's just gotten more annoying? He had a goal in the last season which was running his show but now with this and the film it just seemed like he was more whiny than anything with, 'Mabel PLEASE I need this PLEASE'. And It's kind of hard to watch

I get his character's always been sort of like this but the whole episode it really felt like his only personality trait was just asking Mabel to say yes to this thing for her. Especially in the scene where she was visibly upset had me feeling weird. I hope they fix the arc he's going down especially with the argument him and Mabel had last season

Great opening. Brilliant structure and humour. I doubted if they could get anything of value out of stretching this show for a fourth season, but now I can't wait to see what's next.

Two old white guys and an overweight latina. GNOFBU. Zach Galifriflufli. This can only get better!

Being old, fat, white and latino, I might be biased.

An intriguing start to the season. Glad to see this show back, I really enjoy these characters. :thumbsup_tone1:

  • "Erin Brockovitch, but it's me."
  • That reveal with the metal joints was so dark at the end.
  • I think Charles was the target, but the killer accidentally killed Sazz instead, and burned her body to try to cover it up
  • This season is off too a great start. So glad the show is back!

slow start but I like they've switched it up

This just might be the strongest start to a season since season one, with solid pacing and a good balance between comedy and drama to go along with the usual chemistry between the leads.

Despite it having lost its charm last season something brought me back for more.
An episode of dramatic irony as the viewer waited for them to catch up! Quite well done tbh with the little pieces coming together. It was kinda heartbreaking to see how much Charles clearly cares about his friend. Especially that last shot :(

I'm gonna hazard a guess they the director and/or cast of the movie are gonna tag along for research this season! Seems like the obvious set up.

Great first episode. I'm hyped about this whole season.

Comedy: This is very funny indeed, drawing comedy from a number of sources. The core trio obviously generates most of the laughs, but much is made of the big name guest stars and the Hollywood stuff.
Character: Charles’ genuine concern for his missing friend, Mabel having an early mid-life crisis, and Oliver falling more and more in love with Loretta; all played for real and thoroughly enjoyable.
Mystery: This has the potential to be the best murder mystery yet. It’s certainly the most infuriating so far, with us knowing things for most of the episode that the characters didn’t.
10/10

Last season had moments of brilliance but often felt like it lacked energy and momentum.

This first episode leaps straight into action and ratchets up the tension by doing something I can’t recall the previous season doing: stretching out the gap between what the audience knows and what our three detectives know.

The tension is resolved with force at the end of the episode as we’re suddenly and tragically brought to the same page.

I don’t think I’ll forget that last scene for a LONG time. The look on his face gutted me.

"Spider-man, but its me"
those were great lines!

Very nice start and first episode, it was as fresh as the pilot.
Gomez is so sexy.

That was a pretty intense ending; It's a show about murder and yet incineration is so much more unsettling than anything else so far, especially for a nice and lovable character who presumably was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe because incinerating the dead is reminiscent of the Holocaust. I think it's reasonable for them to up the stakes but wow that was definitely another level.

Fun to see the actors but I want them back in Hollywood!!!! And the "killer" is a fan who wants them to make another season EXCEPT (s)he didn't kill Sezz!!!!
