My daughter married a man who turned out to be her uncle. The lowlife uncle she believed to have been executed years before by the Indian cartel. This is all on my ex-husband's side; I'm good people, and so's my daughter. She had nothing to do with Raven's accident. When the Bangalores finally found Dagger, and gave him what he deserved, they threatened to burn down the motel, and leave my pregnant baby penniless. She begged them to let her keep this place, and she promised them a cut of the profits in return. They laughed, and left, but not without first shaving all her beautiful hair! When people ask me, why do you work here for nothing? I tell them, this is my flesh and blood! I do this for her! Nothing? She is my everything!
:star::star::star::star::star: five stars, would review again
[7.3/10] The David story was good here. As my wife noted, there’s a certain Chidi from The Good Place quality to David, and his indecisiveness about what he wants to do with the General Store is a nice manifestation of that part of his personality. The show is clearly setting up Ray’s new associate Patrick as a potential love interest, but I like introducing him through the way he helps distill David’s ideas down to a solid business plan. You can see Stevie playing the role of David’s encouragement; David himself getting flustered and overwhelmed, and Patrick poking gentle fun at him but helping him along at the same time. It’s a good dynamic, and David’s awkward voicemails were a lot of fun.
Moira’s storyline was less personal, but still very funny. Her manning the desk with disinterest and her curt dismissals is a great comic bit. The persnickety and also awkward hotel guest who wants a cot to look at his clothes makes for a great foil for her. And the icing on the cake is Moira channeling another scene or storyline from her old soap opera to persuade him to take down his bad review. It’s more great comic acting from Catherine O’Hara, and her diabolical yet over-the-top performance is a treat.
The weakest of the three stories is the Alexis/Johnny plagiarism story. It’s not bad by any stretch, and the show tries to wring something sweet out of Johnny’s genuine desire to help his daughter and make up for the times he wasn’t there, but there’s just not much to it. The show can’t wring many jokes out of Johnny’s not-so-subtle then/than distinction or Alexis’s obliviousness to it. That said, I got a big kick out of the tag with his “Follow Us on Tweeters” coasters.
Overall, this one had two good storylines, with a particularly good outing for David, and one milder one.
