[HBO Max] It's so interested in surprising with plot twists that it misses the opportunity to build characters that are really complex. The resolution is built on a monolithic antagonist in order to justify the criminal act, which is a more than debatable position. Something like the justification of violence with a thoughtful thriller wrapper.
The acting in this is absolutely top notch, it's just a pity the storyline just chucks every tired cliche and trope into the blender and hopes it sticks...
