Pretty good detective show! But the true star of Season 1, DS Priya Shamsie (Sonita Henry), has left the show. I really liked the chemistry between the characters and it was all thanks to her. Seasons 2 is still interesting, but something's missing.
6/10 for the rest of the pilot, 0/10 for the ending which is total BS. Really?
The shooting hit rate in the movie is stormtrooper class. :-D
A good collection of clichés from similar movies.
Good grief, please undo this movie and save Charlize Theron's career. Please!
This series is a sequel to a successful film, which was discontinued from Greek Theaters due to unfortunate incidents; a killer mimicked the film and targeted the same kind of victims. This came to show that the dark world of pattern serial killers, (not so) innocent victims and unconventional detectives that make it their life goal to uncover the truth, are far from fictional. The series felt as if it were a true story, a documentary of a twisted world that is hidden from our plain sight, yet it really exists. It's the kind of story we saw in "Seven" or "Zodiac" which were based on true events of patterns killings. The low budget (for US and European standards) of this production is not as apparent as I expected it to be. Overall a really good, dark mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last episode. Not for its action, but for the depth of characters and the emotions they display, which reminded me of the extreme characters we met in "Monk" or "Fargo".
Watching this first episode got me wondering: how much misery can a community stand? Everybody seems to be struggling with their own losses, divorces, abuses, addictions to drugs and alcohol. Lost souls, barely coping, sad and frustrated, just hanging on to life, enduring and making the best of each day. Yet the storyline captivates you even before the end of the episode, when a tragic event makes things even more disturbing. Kate is absolutely wonderful in a very strange way. A must watch...
The French Revolution could be the source of amazing stories. Such a violent period, yet it shaped most of the values we enjoy today. So I'm still trying to figure out why someone went so far as to "reimagine" it and come up with this mess. Costumes are great, the sets are ultra realistic, the music is superb, the atmosphere is just right, but the storyline is utter ____ (ok trying hard to be respectful here).
It's quite difficult to understand this film, and I'm not speaking about the time paradox. Absence of plot, no character building, no emotions, poor sound mixing add to the confusion. Looks more like a bunch of demos of special effects put together to impress.
My kid loves the animated version, I like this version, and there's nothing wrong about how we feel. Why do people always expect a true remake, a 100% scene by scene repetition, and feel uncomfortable when a known story is re-told with some interesting deviations?
A decent action film with great acting, good chemistry and a fair sense of humor among Will and Mary-Elizabeth. There are a couple of scenes where the action seems fake, more like a video game, especially when viewed in 3D. But overall one of the most enjoyable action films I've seen this year.
So weak, you have to look at the title and listen to some familiar character names to remember it's part of the series. Nothing else, script or actors stand up to the reputation. Feels like a random mix of dystopic scenes, Robocop plot, Mad Max action moments and War of the Worlds battle cliches.
Season 4 seems like a seminar of how to use the «F» word in every possible situation. Quite educating in this aspect, but meh in everything else. However it still looks like, feels like and smells like The Expanse. So i'll give it an 8/10 as a fan of the books, and hope next season is improved.
Boring, uninteresting, bad acting, full of action film cliches. Don't bother unless you're a fan of the lead actors and have given this oath to watch all of their movies.
An epic documentary. This movie is not just about a great game by AEK Athens and the winning of the European basketball cup against it's great oponent, Slavia Praha. It's about the history of a club that was re-born from refugees. It's about a revolutionary year, known for the May '68 student uprise. A turning point for Communism, with the Prague Spring (the country of AEK's oponents in this final game). The year that Apollo orbits the moon. The year that the Black Power movement is celebrated in an Olympic Games award. One of the most tumultuous single years in history. Martin Luther King Jr was assasinated on the very day of this game. The lifes of athletes, common people, famous leaders, whole nations weave this dramatic story that was waiting to be told to newer generations.
Tell you the truth, I didn't expect this, but I actually love the series. Honours so nicely Homer's main belief that the 12 gods fight each other, intervene with human lives, play with them and lead them to their destiny. An idea which allowed unbelievable deceptions, plots and twists, that gave us one of the world's greatest masterpieces of literature. OK, so I understand some are offended by black actors playing Zeus or Achilles (who are mythological creatures, a.k.a never existed to have some standard look). Well I'm not, I think it's an interesting choice. Especially for the Myrmidon race who, according to Greek Mythology, were ants that became people.
What can you expect from a series with such a huge mistake in it's storyline? The Knights Templar entrusted with protecting ... the Holy Grail? Not even close. There is no historical connection between these two (unless you're Dan Brown). This is supposed to tell the true KT story. Historically it's worthless, but I'll be giving it a fiver for the nice costumes and medieval atmosphere.
Really interesting storyline woven around my favorite quote: “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
Nice thriller based on an "oldie and rookie" storyline. They have a rough start, but as they work on solving the cases together they build trust and appreciation. Denzel is the typical himself, Angelina is doing a great job at hiding her good looks behind a charismatic character. Too bad there was no sequel with this duo! Because the ending did seem to leave this unfulfilled promise...
Somebody must have mixed the James Bond, Jason Bourne and Sherlock scripts... But the result is awesome :-)
Sequel is Ok, enjoyable but definitely missing that WOW factor of the 1st movie, that grabbed your attention from the very first scene.
Great movie, not the typical good guys vs bad guys storyline.
What a great movie. Thank god it's a bit slow paced, so you can absorb every second, every detail of this amazing recreation of the thirties.
A breath of new life and modern computer graphics on one of the nicest stories of out childhood. Really enjoyed this movie.
This drama will be appreciated mainly by people who had to leave their country and work in the middle east, where money is great but the culture is shockingly different.
AMAZING episode! Really enjoyed this one!
A good movie! It's a pity that other guys comment on the quality of some bad stream they found. Not doing this movie any justice! Joseph Fiennes acting is great. The body language, his expressions build an amazing role. There are a few disturbing scenes of violence, but they are necessary to show what the hero goes through, they really add to the plot. There are also a few downsides: the scene of a thief dying on the cross is so fake acting, you'll probably laugh. And then showing Mary Magdalene as a "woman of the streets" is inaccurate if you go by the scriptures. It was another Mary who was mentioned as such. This is basic stuff that the director got all wrong. But hey, overall this is a movie you will certainly enjoy.
Slow, boring, uninteresting, depressing. But OK, it's DC, so I'll rate above average just for that :)
Watch the amazing Season 1 and then the last 15 minutes of Season 4 Episode 6.
The pilot was amazing and I anxiously waited for the rest. Most were great, some were OK. And then came the first season's ending... and just blew my mind. I don't want to put a spoiler here, just watch! PS. Amazing soundtrack.
