How can something with this much budget and such talented people working on it feel so cheap ? The CGI looks like Ghostbusters from the 80's, everything in the dark so you are trying to make sense of the shadows. I'm really trying to like it but this keeps feeling more like an episode of Xena or Hercules than a show like GOT or LOTR. The source material deserves better.
Honestly, what the hell is this?
Stephen Root... Danny Trejo... awesome cameos!
on the other hand, the gang of scooter-riding-calvin-klein-models look way too comical for this show --- wtf??
With an extra 14 minutes (including the credits), "The Book of Boba Fett" decides to use its time to show Boba Fett attack some thugs, take down a train, and do a dance around a campfire. Yes, I like the message that Indigenous people (the Sand People) shouldn't have to hide. Yes, I enjoyed the confrontations in Mos Espa. But with no character development, plot or conflicts, I'm worried about this series' trajectory.
Once again, the concept art looks cooler than the actual show (unlike "The Mandalorian", which looks as cool (if not cooler) than its concept art).
Edit: The flashbacks feel like sidequests since Boba's never morally questioned. He's just positioned as the good guy (even though he's had questionable morals in the comics, movies and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars"). He just takes down monster, takes down train, gets a staff and dances.
6/10
Just finished the first two episodes (I seriously dislike episodic releases, I will probably wait until the whole season drops before I watch the rest). Initial impressions - interesting characters, great chemistry between Clint and Kate (they are perfect foils for each other), great fight scenes (they’ve given Kate the Black Widow’s signature move). Lots of action. Lots of fun. Love the dog. Based on the first two episodes, I’m giving this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Superhero Action Adventure]
Honestly, how could this fail? Two of the fasted rising stars (Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh), the weight of the Marvel Universe behind it (Kevin Feige’s vision and Marvel’s course corrections in balancing humour, action and superheroes) and the growing power of the television format to maximize storylines. This was another winner. The only holdbacks for me were the one toned performance of Jeremy Renner and the weakness of a credible threat. I give this series an 8 (great) out if 10. [Superhero Action Adventure]
It was kind of unexpected for me how much I enjoyed it. I had really low expectations (because Hawkeye), but I think this is one of my favorite MCU-shows thus far. It's not that big in scale, which helps a lot. The dynamic between Kate and Clint is great and Yelena is awesome. I just had fun with this, it has great humor most of the time. Nothing unexpected or stuff that made me fall of my chair laughing, but just a fun, action-packed show. Also, love the Christmas-setting; move aside Iron Man 3!
Nice camerawork, nice cast, trash story.
Tries to be something bigger than b-movie with big budget and fails miserably.
I was entertained. However:
What on earth was Synder trying to do with the “prior team may actually be us, in a time loop” nonsense? Crazy idea that wound up going nowhere despite the big lampshade he hung on it.
The whole zombie pregnancy thing was an interesting idea that got insufficiently explored.
The opening credits scene was stylish and fun and set a great tone but unfortunately the movie proper never rose to meet it - it was pretty standard zombie fare.
There was a UFO in the beginning (or at least some sort of fast moving light in the sky) that was never explained. Also never explained: a robot zombie - sparks flew from his head when he was shot on the casino floor. It was a quick moment but unambiguously a robot. What was up with that?
“They reanimate when it rains” was a big unfired Chekhov’s Gun. About the same size as Chekhov’s Chainsaw - if a character has a big rotary saw as a weapon, shouldn’t it be used to kill at least one zombie at some point?
Sean Spicer does not deserve to be rehabilitated via cameo.
The first 40 minutes consist pretty much of the deadly serious superhero stuff I just can't be excited about anymore (shows moving along the tone of Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn and Legends of Tomorow grow on me much more easily), and the last 5 minutes felt unnecessrary graphical and only for pure shock value. Maybe I give it another shot as most of the ensamble (voiceover) cast were not here yet, but so far, this is not for me.
Ok, in order to turn my brain off and enjoy this episode I would have to suspend my disbelieve... twice. And forgive one hell of convenient appearance to boot. That just too much. Also why do you need Sam for this specific part of the mission?
Would be nice if "terrorist group" continued to be depicted as misguided group of cosmopolitans who fights for the right cause.. Karli's actions aside. Action works, but that about it this time.
p.s. And most unforgivable sin of course is the accent) Bruhl did a pretty good job in Civil War he butchered like one word but this time around only subs will help you.
Eh—it’s okay.
I have little to say about this one; it’s just alright.
The action scenes were entertaining—Bucky and Sharon are popping off! Walker got less screen time in this one, and I’m okay with that. His big reaction is pretty amusing, though, and I hope they go somewhere with this. Karli is still uninteresting, and I still don’t understand her.
Overall, it’s a good ‘ol continuation, but with us being halfway into the series, I’m a little concerned our setups aren’t going to get any payoffs.
SCORE: 6/10
Another episode that was "meh" at best.
So far this show failed spectacularly to catch my attention and I don't even know why.
Man I'm a bit disappointed, this episode felt stretched out, lots of padding and scenes which could easily have been trimmed or cut out entirely. This almost felt like an episode from a CW show..... It feels like a movie script that has been stretched into a six episode series.....
Like others have pointed out, it's basically Moana + Avatar: The Last Airbender + MLP: Friendship is Magic.
The symbolism was kinda sloppy and shallow. If the Drunn were personifications of human discord, greediness and other dark sides of humanity, then they should've only affected the bad people first and manipulated them to corrupt and turn others evil like them. That would've been a much more realistic and emotionally complex story, I think, especially if people couldn't immediately tell if someone had been turned or not, which is where trust and kindness would come in.
Found it to be over hyped. Didnt really feel the drama or thrill. Kinda lack lustre.
It looked pretty and the story was ok but I don't know... something about it seemed off. Maybe I'm just jaded and can't buy into whole "happily ever after" storylines any more.
This show cracks me up. That dinner was awkward as hell. The scene on the way back home with them in the truck was my favorite. That song is gonna be stuck in my head.
I love Darcy. She is perfectly nuts and some how more inappropriate than Harry.
Anyway this show makes me giggle non-stop.
Binged this in a day and yes it ends with a cliffhanger.
Mostly enjoyed it. Sometimes there are pacing issues and occasionally the acting was a little bit lackluster.
Like a battery powered toy robot, it's noisy, flashy and doesn't stand still, but it just runs along its pre-programmed track until it ends predictably.
Sadly, however, this doesn't just run out of juice, it makes a hysterically bad exit...
so funny, DANI ROJAS ... DANI ROJAS ... DANI ROJAS ... DANI ROJAS :D
At least there isnt 2 of her now. 1 iris is annoying enough as it is :joy:
This show is so bad now. I wish The Flash would go back in time and redo this season and probably the last one.
God this has been so painful to watch since the Crisis crossover
Do they actually have high school students writing these episodes?
The ending was so sappy and corny. That was probably one of the worst episodes. Barry vs the mirror people.
