The dialogue in this film is fun. Everyone is so deadpan and matter of fact and I'm enjoying the sardonic nature of everyone's reactions. Feels like it would have been suited better as a stage play than a movie. Shirley MacLaine is as lovely as ever.
Do not let this movie be your introduction to Howard Hawks. Go with The Thing from Another World or The Dawn Patrol....you have been warned
This makes Yor's world look like Lord of the Rings.
This movie is about a dipshit that accidentally kills a kid and tries to help the mother by doing more dipshittery. His riding partners don't particularly care about the situation. One is always trying to get under the dress of the grieving woman, the other just feels like he doesn't even want to be in this movie, let along on this trip.
The movie is so full of dipshits, even the film stock stinks.
Sam Peckinpah can do better
Critics mentioned several times that the film was pretty boring. I would have to agree, this is the definition of "meh". 5/10
