38 year old man crying cause some imaginary pink cotton candy dolphin cat elephant hybrid sacrificed himself to save someone shouting bing bong in a magic rocket cart.
Simply one of the best movies ever made...the only flaws are the narrative sequences. They need to be cut for an absolutely perfect movie.
This movie didn't quite work for me, which is disappointing because I really like most of Kubrick's movies. It's too long and way too slow. The acting is good and the cinematography is good but the plot is lacking. I get that it's not about the plot so much as the meaning of marriage and faith but I wanted to know more about that masked sex cult. As it is right now this is one of my least favorite Stanley Kubrick's films. Maybe I will give it a rewatch in a couple of years and like it better.
Edit: I rewatched it a couple of years later and liked it a lot better.
A heart rendering account of two Idaho street hustlers. These two young men are best friends on the same road, yet they each contain a destiny the polar opposite to the other. We feel Mikes emotional despair as he drifts along his hazy cycle of need and suffering. His friend Scott however, is grounded on the road to wealth and security. The restless editing and dramatic acting serves to make this a landmark in queer cinema.
"The achievement of this film is that it wants to evoke that state of drifting need, and it does. There is no mechanical plot that has to grind to a Hollywood conclusion, and no contrived test for the heroes to pass."
- Roger Ebert
Just watch the 1988 TRUE version and don't even try this mockbuster.
Much better than expected, but a little too uneven to be truly great.
Farrell was great and had a real handle on his character. I loved his mannerisms and he always looked like he was on the edge of exploding in to vampire violence but knew when to bide his time.
David Tenants Peter Vincent is a joy to watch but Yelchin could be replaced with little detriment.
My only real criticism would be that it's just not scary enough, but overall it's really quite enjoyable.
Does have some plot holes and that last fight wasn't really necessary but all in all entertaining to watch.
Well played. Had the Kryptonian or the Amazon taken that gamble, they would have lost. They do not have the strength
of character......to destroy an entire planet to achieve success.
But you, a human? You kill your own kind to win battles.
Easily the best line and, sadly, so full of truth
This is a Warner Bros. animated, full-length movie. It features Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman fighting the evil Darkseid on the planet Apocalypse. This is actually a Supergirl origin story. The movie is full of action and explosions and some of the story takes place on another planet, which is well imagined.
The animation alternates from fantastic to average. There are some really well animated fight scenes, yet the quieter moments, character conversations, seem under drawn. The characters are quite shallow but these DC Comics superheroes established their personalities long ago.
Both DC and Marvel have stepped up their superhero animated movie output. There are dozens of these movies to explore and the ones that I've seen are quite good. If you're an animation fan, these are worth checking out.
Still bad. Also drags out too long, which wouldn't be a problem if the actors and the writing would be good but they aren't.
And once again, it ends with a cliffhanger, so they can drag this out forever, and milk this cow with infinite installments. At least, now Laura's life is seemingly not at stake, or, well, not in the sense that it previously was.
This time, Laura has to choose between the rich muscular man who kidnapped, groped, intimidated etc her, and the rich muscular man who sort of kidnapped her. What a time to be alive!
Imagine 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Godfather', and 'Fifty Shades of Grey' had a threesome, but after many failed abortions, it crawled out of the womb and slithered into cinema.
Yep, that describes it.
It's so bad that with a little bit of re-shoots and re-writes, this could have been a Jeffrey Epstien origin film. I'm not even joking. My jaw is on the floor that a movie like this exists, especially after the MeToo and Times Up movement.
Please never forget that humanity created this movie. Everyone who was involved in this movie should be ashamed of themselves.
I dare to say... it was better than Grey. For a such ridiculous story it was far more realistic which made it so much more enjoyable (and I enjoyed Grey).
This is a beautiful film with a lovely story that I fell in love with the first time I watched it. It's spectacular and very well done. I would be surprised if one were to watch it and not shed a tear. The message and story is so lovely and the journey Billy goes on is similar to one that I'm sure many people have shared. This is one of the only films that has ever given me butterflies in my stomach both during and after watching it, it's incredible, and I was able to connect with Billy's character.
I think i cried continiously throughout the whole movie. Tears of joy.
Great all around; acting, story, pace, atmosphere. Watching a 2nd time is as fun if not more than the 1st.
the movie is not good and not bad. It has jump scares in it, with would make the movie a 3of10.
BUT (!) the endling is so good, that it raises the bar.
5/10 for a average movie with a superb ending !
Incredibly underrated. Great tension building flick! Saw it in theaters and loved it right away, it's a shame it didn't get the love it deserved.
So many horror movies are so copy paste and remakes and reboots that I love movies when they try something different or a-typical. It is refreshing.
In my top 10 favourite movies! I have watched it many times. This is what you call a movie, an 10/10 movie. What a beautiful experience.
I have yet to not cry my eyes out. Puffy eyes, running nose, trebling lips, so many tears I can't even see the screen.. THIS is what drama movies should be about; invocate real emotions while telling us a unique story, not bore us to death. I don't know how many times I have watched this movie, bit I know I will be watching it so many times more in the future.
This movie will never age. I really appreciate it being remastered to newer video formats. Since its release in 1997, I have watched this movie in VHS, VCD, DVD, Blu-ray and now 4K HDR. It keeps getting visually stunning with every single technology iteration. A true cult classic.
A true cult classic.
This movie is over the top from start to finish, and it knows it. A lot of movies that try to do this, the level to which they are over the top ebbs and flows. It jumps all over the place. This movie keeps it persistent, consistent, and that's what really keeps it flowing and makes me love it so much. Just the right amount and not too much.
The right amount of comedy to take what really is a pretty crap story, and just make it truly enjoyable to watch. They went above and beyond making all the scenes as artistic as they could. The cinematography really draws you in and can be enjoyed even if the movie isn't for you. I can watch this time and time again, and not grow bored.
"I don't want to be one of those things. Walking around without a soul."
While it's not the best zombie movie out there, I enjoyed this more than I remembered. Maybe it's because I know what the series is like later, but I try not to let that change how I feel about movies. The intro is pretty good and the lab is a good place to have it go down, and the zombie dogs look awesome.
Although not a "great movie", RE is still enjoyable if you are the type of person who can appreciate one and a half hours of horror-action without much depth!
I have never played the games - it just wasn´t my thing. I´m not much into that zombie theme but I think Resident Evil is, in the context of it´s timeframe, a well made action-horror-scifi movie.
I would've loved this movie as a kid!
This tale about a boy who sees ghosts and attempts to save his town from a witch-applied curse is surprisingly scary in spots. This is not typical animation for kids. It's more adult and has much in common with "Coraline" in both its pacing and its look.
I absolutely loved the stop-motion animation and I wish there were more movies being made using it. The story is not a religious tale but it confusingly lumps aspects of religion (Heaven/Hell) with witchcraft and zombies. None of these begets the other, so using them altogether to relay a message of tolerance is going to be a little complicated for kids waiting for fart jokes. In fact, asking a restless kid to watch "ParaNorman" would be a bad idea. There's a lot of dialogue and not much action for lengthy stretches. It really feels more adult. Best to show that kid one of the "Transformers" movies again.
The final act and the Witch's storm was eye-popping. It was very impressive and was one of the more amazing moments of animation I've seen at the Movies.
A great movie. Different of every stop motion i ever watched.
But a little too scary for kids.
Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Love this movie so much! Should've won the Oscar!
