This show is so fucking good. The writing is spectacular. The actors are so genuine and adorable. This show will have you laughing as it kicks you in the feels. It’s so refreshing. Truly a must watch, shit ass.
Watched it all in practically one sitting! I love the movie, but this isn’t the movie. Any one caught up on that won’t appreciate this fun show. I wasn’t looking for a retelling of the original movie. So I was delightfully surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Very much loved that they included black and latina storylines! Something the movie could just nod their cap to without addressing any racial issues.
There was a heavy queer element which for me was amazing. Very much appreciate how many homos played because hello they did.
I think it also highlights the disparity between men and women rights. Like fuck they couldn’t even have bank accounts!!! Not that long ago, damn.
Watch it!
Hell yes! What a role for Allison Janey! You never see older women kicking ass like she did. I fully support this trend! Not a perfect movie, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Go watch!
The first episode was great! Tatiana is amazing and charming in the series. I like the fourth wall breaks and quick exposition. Hope this show continues to be great!
Older than the target audience, but loving the lead and fun animations. It’s light and captures that teen energy well. Excited to see where this will go.
I appreciate this limited series. It doesn’t paint a perfect picture of Hollywoods most celebrated couple. Instead an honest depiction of two people showing up for one another and a relationship continuing to evolve as they do. A little schmaltzy and Ethan takes himself a little too seriously, but quite an undertaking. Worth the watch if you like Woodward, Newman, or old Hollywood.
I don’t get the appeal of NPH. He’s so blah as an actor. Always bringing comedic vaudeville vibes to whatever role he plays. Outside of him the other cast was pretty good. Finale was blah. Honestly prolly won’t watch season 2 if there is one.
I wished this was better. It wasn't. First elephant in the room, make up/prosthetics on Sofia were terrible. She was never going to look like Griselda. Why this weird botched middle ground? I don't know how that got approved. Story pacing was so so. It felt as if we were stop and start racing through plot points. Spending too much time on unimportant or uninteresting segments only to breeze by more intriguing moments. I wish we would have gotten a bit more time with Griselda on top of the world before the inevitable collapse and her murder. I liked where and how it ended, but it missed on a lot of the bigger story points. Writing was ok. I did enjoy the fashion, music, and hair. Really fun exposure to the culture of Latinos and Miami in this moment of time. I though Sofia did well, but not spectacularly. Her inspirational/rousing speeches fell flat or just felt like her screaming her dialogue instead of actually inspiring. She did well playing off her male leads though. Overall, if you like Sofia you'll like this. If you don't, move on past this series.
This is a great fucking series!! It expands on MCU content in a new and fresh way. I’m so tired of the end of the world plot points. It actually plays more like a lawyer procedural than a superhero show and I’m so thankful it does! It’s a fun way to expand the universe without needing a ‘save the world’ storyline. I love watching the unexpected consequences or new situations I hadn’t thought of arising from people with superpowers. Starting a law department for supers would totally happen! The writing and edits are phenomenal. Loads of exposition told in very efficient and well-executed cuts. The show is tongue-in-cheek and the fourth wall breaks support that energy. Tatiana has been a big time fave of mine since Black Orphan and here she is so god damn good! She’s funny, awkward, and brings a great humor to this series. Don't let the incels keep you away. WATCH THIS SHOW!
Season 4 would have been good with one more episode or one less focused on Aaron Paul’s character. Hate to say it because I normally like him, but Aaron Paul is the least interesting character added to the series. Basically every moment was a chore to watch with him, which is a bummer.
We really took a journey this season. Cant say that I fell back in love with the show, but did pique my interest in the series overall again. Nothing replaces season 1, but season 4 helped get it back on track. I’ll definitely watch season 5.
Spoiler: pass on Aaron Paul’s whole ass storyline - take his kid too. Why would you bring us to the 20s and IMMEDIATELY leave!?! Fuck. Oh cool there are ‘outliers’ and hosts killing them selves after talking to them, but we won’t address that any more. Fuck yeah to what the man in black power move. Finally Dolores! Righting a wrong and major disservice to the show by “killing her off” in season 3. I don’t like any of her office setting either. Overall a lot to complain about, but you know what - it was entertaining, visually stunning, got me on a dual time jump storyline again, and mother fucking Maeve. End spoilers
I loved this series. I wasn't sure at first if I would like it, but it won me over quickly. It is more of a slow burn series, but moves quickly and has amazing pockets of action. The dialogue and pacing all feel very modern. The chemistry between Donald and Maya is fantastic. They're both intriguing and dynamic to watch together and solo of one another. I wouldn't think of either of them as action stars, but they wear that surprisingly well. I like that we had moments to focus on their relationship while learning more about the company. The fight sequences are filmed incredibly well. They all feel like believable fights and movements. I particularly love episode 5's cinematography. In addition to all of that, you get some really fun cameos - I am always excited to see Parker Posey on my screen. I enjoyed the ride through out from start to finish. Hope there is a second season!!
I am thoroughly burned out on MCU. So I went into this watch very skeptical and expecting to dislike what I saw. Color me surprised when I actually liked it!
Alaqua Cox is great in Echo! I didn't love her in Hawkeye, but very much enjoyed her here. Story wise, I thought her redemption arc is weak. She's a killer and needs to reckon with the part she played in killing all those people for Kingpin. I hope they tackle in future seasons. Otherwise, her finding connection back to her family and people/culture was really moving. I did find some of the presentation of the Choctaw history a bit hokey, but the lore/history was very welcome.
A hero is only as good as their villain and holy hell did Vincent D'onofrio deliver with Kingpin. I seem to be in the minority, but I don't like Daredevil. I especially don't like Charlie Cox as DD. So the best thing coming out of that series for me has always been Kingpin. Vincent brings this eerie calm to the character - just completely still and captivating. So when he unleashes his anger and becomes physical it's scary and completely enthralling. He takes up so much of the screen that even when silent you have the sense you're playing with fire.I loved getting so much time with him in this series. His defeat really heightens your respect of Echo's powers.
Filming wise, the fight scenes were fucking awesome! She kicked asssssss. It was cool when they removed sound from time to time during those scenes. Felt very immersive. Showcased how she is able to use being deaf to her advantage as well as when accommodations need be made because she is deaf. Excited to see the expansion of her powers and her kicking loads more ass.
I loved the non-combative ending. Her power shook Kingpin versus a physical altercation. Something really special about coming from love. Sure you could kill or physically overpower Kingpin, but it's so expected and not always the best recourse. Similarly to why I enjoyed the ending to She-Hulk, I appreciate that there are more paths to 'victory' than just brute force. That said, the was a bit rushed. When I saw there was only 15 minutes left in the episode, I knew I wouldn't be completely happy with pacing. Wouldn't have minded a bit more fighting at the end there with the lead up to the confrontation with Kingpin. They would have done well with even one more episode.
Kudos to Disney for showcasing different voices. Seeing the diversity in the cast and having a deaf, native, amputee woman as your lead is really great. We want more female stories and female leads!! Keep it up. :) Major kudos for not including an unnecessary love story plot. Give this show a watch!
The coolest part about this movie was learning more about Inuit culture and the hugely indigenous cast. Other than that it was a total white savior movie. I still enjoyed it until about the middle when the classic hopeful, cool teacher music began to play. I’m glad this story was told but the execution could have been much better.
Late af to this movie and definitely not the target audience, but I loved this shit!
The cast is phenomenal and they do a great job capturing that high school feeling. Loved how prominently Inglewood/LA was featured.
Can’t recommend this movie enough. Glad so many of these actors went on to other movies and shows! Now I gotta tune into this writer/director to see what other stories they have going now.
Watch it!
Loved this movie as a kid and think it could easily be reintroduced to any kid today. Super fun kid adventure
Dug this! Fun kick-ass action movie. No overly complex plot or preachy hero. Ryan Gosling is believable and funny in this role. Great seeing Chris Evans be a stylish douche instead of a bland goody two shoes Captain America. Much prefer him in this lane. Either way check it out!
Enjoyed watching the process and getting the interviews. Nothing spectacularly new or exciting, but if you’re a fan you’ll enjoy it!
Happy for more diverse content but ended up really disliking Ryan. Took two full seasons for someone to call him selfish. And why’d they wait so long for Ravi?! He was by far the best character. Overall so so and had an ok ending.
Weird fucking movie. Some good sex scenes though.
Season 2 was the best but always love seeing the family together!
Solid Bond film. Trying to weave together all the past Craig movies was meh and definitely didn’t hit, but loved all the action and actors.
When it’s good it’s SO FUCKING GOOD
Admittedly not the best writing, acting, or special fx, but wish it would have existed when I was a queer teen.
You Outta Know this doc is the shit!
If I could go back in time and not watch this show I would. Production and actors aside, this show is trash. They had it in the first season but continues to fade and fade each season thereafter. Knowing the highs and lows of the series, having watched it all, it was worse than a waste of time. There are banger and that can't be denied. The bangers do not outweigh the multiple plot fuck ups, unnecessary grape scenes, sloooooow story lines, and maybe one of the worst endings of all time. Fuck this show. I will never watch a show by these creators again.
Advice to you - if you've avoided it this long go watch something else! Fucking watch Lord of the Rings. Fuck this show.
This wasn't the best documentary in terms of structure and filming, but that doesn't make the viewing any less enjoyable. I loved learning about Terry and Pat. What a beautiful love story. Such a brave story. Something I don't think the documentary touched on enough.
It's exceedingly rare to see a story of two old queer women who have lived a whole life with one another. Not to have some melodramatic ending. They had a whole life together. We do not see enough elder queers in media. So this was a beautiful viewing for that reason alone.
There was a lot to like about this movie. The actors did a great job playing the younger versions of some of my fave characters. The styling and fashion were beautiful! It was a great mob movie in a lot of ways. Had all the usual violence and typical storylines associated with a good mob movie. I love that they included more black characters and storylines. Harold was a very welcome addition.
All that said there is a lot to complain about as well. The ending was abrupt and a crap tie in to the original series. It would have been better a little longer or as a limited series.
This movie would have done better completely omitting Tony and trying to tie back into the OG series. It would have been a great story if they had focus on the beef between Harold and Dickie. OR ditch Harold and focus on Tony more - though I prefer the former. Tony’s entire storyline was unnecessary and relied heavily on the viewer feeling the weight of the his history in the OG series versus laying out a good story narrative for his character.
Minor beef- Using a twin Ray Liota was a cheap story point. Baby Gandolfini was a little too green to carry the role.
A pretty good documentary. So sad to see his career take such turns due to greed.
I’ll say it. I’m a sucker for a fun CW show. I wasn’t expecting much but was delighted surprised they hit the usual mark. Granted they mean a bit on hope and moody teens, but again - CW…
Still if you like Superman you’ll dig this
I’ll start by saying this movie wasn’t perfect - it was too long, Tom Hanks was at times comical, colonels character was the wrong choice for narrator, and of course you’re forced into the linear storyline of a biopic. I’ll also say they gloss right over the fact that Priscilla WAS 14 YEARS OLD WHEN HER AND THE 24 YEAR OLD ELVIS FIRST MET. SHE WAS SHACKED UO WITH ELVIS WHILE SHE WAS STILL IN FUCKING HIGH SCHOOL.
It’s fucking gross people don’t talk about this. It was so hard watching those scenes and enjoying Elvis for that fact alone.
/ criticism
Now all that out of the way: Baz did it again! He has such a knack for music-infused storytelling. Where music sometimes feels like another character in the show. His signature style is all over this. Smooth transitions, seamless integration with wild visuals, and great use of modern music played over historical stories. He nailed it.
Austin Butler was phenomenal. He melted into Elvis until you couldn’t always tell the difference. He esp nailed the voice. Sometimes in these movies you’re watching someone play dress up (cough cough Rami Malek cough cough), but he felt completely at one with the character.
Check it out, but don’t worship the rapist “king of rock and roll”
