I was expecting something like Too All the Boys I've Loved Before, that wasn't it. I think because of that, I enjoyed it less. The cast was great though, that was one of the things that got me really excited. The storyline and the character development were both a bit disappointing. It was a fun and easy going movie, but don't expect too much from it.
I really really really loved this movie. Honestly, I really really really loved all three movies. This one truly, once again, lived up to all my expectations. It looked beautiful, it was funny ( I cried of laughter at one point), I loved seeing all the characters again. It was just great. In the end, it got quite emotional for me personally. I tried very hard to hold back my tears but I let one slip, so I was happy my 3D glasses helped me cover up my tear filled eyes. I will miss these movies very much and be sure to watch them all again very soon.
Just realized that I pretty much only talked about my emotions but I also want to say something about the storyline. I think this movie had one of the best storylines of all three. I witnessed a growth in multiple characters, which is something I really enjoyed. I hated the bad guy, which hasn't happen in this trilogy yet, so that's pretty great. Loving all these emotions, to be honest.
So, if you haven't noticed by now, I loved How to Train Your Dragon (all of them) and HIGHLY recommend you watch them all :-)
I was soooo excited for this movie to come out! I love Peter Jackson his work and couldn't wait to see this. Let's start off with the graphics. They were everything we are used to when we think "Peter Jackson", so so beautiful. I think they might be my favourite part of this movie, to be honest. The characters are a close second though. You could relate to most of them which made it easy to form a bond (either love or hate). There could have been a bit more character development if you ask me (and as my friend said at the end of the movie "the biggest friendzone movie I've ever seen"). One thing I really missed while watching Mortal Engines was the history. I felt like they left out a lot of valuable and interesting information and filled that precious time with more action scenes. Which to me was a bit disappointing.
So, overall, a cool idea, a really beautifully made movie but lacking a bit of depth in the screenplay.
My favourite thing about this movie was, 100%, the graphics. It was so beautiful to look at. The storyline itself had a very long buildup to the "action" part. Which made the moment of truth a bit snowed under in comparison to the rest (see what I did there). Mackenzie Foy was absolutely brilliant and Keira Knightley confused me a bit, but other than that, The Nutcracker has a great cast! Jayden Fowora-Knight really stood out for me and Jack Whitehall made me laugh quite a bit.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms gave me all the Christmas feels and I can't wait till it's that time of the year again (my favourite time!). This would be great to watch with your family and friends right next to the Christmas tree. Once again, the graphic really did the trick for me but overall it's a fun and enjoyable movie!
I was expecting something like the original "The Little Mermaid", let me tell you, it's nothing like that. It made me a bit disappointed, but once I let go of the "original story", it was quite enjoyable. I love Poppy Drayton and William Moseley, so it was fun to see them do a movie together. I probably won't watch it again, but I'm rating it with a very solid 6.
For someone who hasn't seen that many shark movies (read: has only seen Jaws), was The Meg action-packed and quite enjoyable. The movie itself was pretty to look at. The underwater environment was created beautifully, as well as the shark. That's a good thing because the buildup to the first "shark glimpse" took pretty long, which made the beginning of the movie feel quite slow. So the images of pretty fish made up for that. I would have loved to learn more about the shark species "Megalodon" but they didn't go into that, at all. But then again, it is an action movie. And let me tell you, this movie contains a lot of just that. It was to be expected with an actor lineup that contains Jason Statham. I really enjoyed his performance as Jonas Taylor. This might have been the first movie where I actually saw him smile. I really enjoyed Shuya Sophie Cai's performance as Meiying as well. She did a great job.
I feel quite sad that the shark had to die in the end. Just wanted to add that to the review.
I can't wait to watch more shark movies. So if you're reading this and you know some great once I need to check out, let me know :-)
It was an okay movie. A "smaller" version of the fast and the furious movies we all know. Overdrive has a solid cast and the movie is filled with good looking cars. I enjoyed watching it and recommended it to my car lovin' brother, but I'll probably won't watch it again.
I truly enjoyed The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society. (I think that this is the first movie title that I genuinely can't pronouns). It is a story of love, friendship, war and ambition. The film location and the costumes were beautiful and the acting was great. Filled with characters you can't help but fall in love with. Some scenes are light and easy going while the next few scenes tell the saddest stories. This movie found the perfect balance between it all. Playing not only with your emotions but with your heart as well, if you ask me. I for sure am watching it again, as soon as possible.
I really really loved Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! I might even prefer it over the first Mamma Mia. It hardly ever happens that I prefer the second movie over the first movie, but here we are. I liked seeing into the past and learning how the events in the first movie came about. That together with the amazing new cast, it was just great. The movie found a perfect way to let us into the characters their past, but also their future. I always love learning about characters or events in movies and I feel like I never know enough. I want to know, quite literally, everything. This movie gave me a lot of insight and perhaps that's the reason why I loved it so much.
Another reason is the cast, how couldn't it be? They are all so talented and portraited the characters perfectly. It was so fun to see younger versions of the characters we already know and love. Let me start off with Jeremy Irvine (the younger version of Sam), Hugh Skinner (the younger version of Harry) and Josh Dylan (the younger version of Bill). They were brilliant! Jeremy Irvine practically sounded like Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Skinner moved and presented himself the exact same way as Colin Firth does. I was quite blown away by it, so great. Josh Dylan was just the perfect portrait of the dude you wish to fall in love with during a summer break. The honest truth, right there. The "original cast" is just grand so I won't blabber on about them too much. Lastly, I want to talk real quick about Lily James. The girl can sing! I loved her from the first time I saw her in Downton Abbey, so it's great seeing her going places. Also, I loved her wardrobe in this movie! Which made me think, wouldn't Lily James make a great big sister? I would love to have her as a sister. She's cool.
Even though Donna did share a bed with a lot of guys in a time span of about half an hour, I overall really enjoyed it all. It made me want to go to Greece really bad, and it was filled with fun little things like the guy at the ferry who checked the passports to Cher's dramatic entrance and the unexpected romance with Fernando Cienfuegos . I loved it and can't wait to see it again! Which will be next Saturday, ha, I'm unstoppable.
PS. Didn't you just love the end scene where they did "Super Trouper"? It might have been one of my favourite moments in the movie and it was practically the end titles, haha.
I really enjoyed Life of the Party! It was very original and super fun. We laughed out loud and we were just enjoying ourselves a lot to be honest. I really enjoyed the casts, Melissa McCarthy was brilliant as always and the sorority girls were a fun bunch as well. All very different characters. It was fun to see Gillian Jacobs playing a different character from what I'm used to. Maya Rudolph was hilarious, as always and I liked Luke Benward. I've never seen him before this movie, but he's cool.
Something I personally really liked was the fact that the "low point" wasn't too low. I don't like it when a comedy makes me cry, Life of the Party had just the right amount of "low" to still enjoy it and not break out in tears. It's just a perfect feel-good movie in my opinion.
So yea, I really liked it! As I said at the beginning, it's such an original movie and I would for sure watch it again :-)
I just stepped out of the theatre and I'm ready to write this review for you all. So, let me start off by saying, this movie is nothing like the other Star Wars movies. I was expecting something like Rogue One, but as soon as they started making jokes I knew it was going to be something different. I liked it though, I did. It was action packed, quite funny and a bit romantic. I dig it. The action scenes were probably my favourite thing about this movie, those were very well done.
Alden Ehrenreich did Han Solo proud. I didn't really know the actor before this, but he's good! Sometimes it almost felt like I was listening to Harrison Ford. It was great to see him and Chewbacca together en find out how their relationship started in the first place. I really enjoyed seeing them bonding and all that. Woody Harrelson never ceases to amaze me, to be honest. He is a brilliant actor if you ask me. I felt like his character stayed a bit in the background throughout the movie but I think Tobias Beckett sure made an impact on Han. Talking about making an impact, let talk about Qi'Ra (probably the coolest way to write Kyra). First off, I adore Emilia Clarke. I think she's a great actress and she's absolutely gorgeous. I had to get used to the idea of her in a space movie but she did very well. Her character is still a bit of a blur, to be honest, but I think Qi'Ra could be an interesting character to explore further. Donald Glover as Lando is perfectly cast. They truly did a great job. My brother said, "I thought he was the son of the original Lando". I think when people say that, you've done a pretty great job. I liked L3 as well, she was a bit much sometimes but she brought some humour to the movie.
Overall it sure was a fun movie to watch. It all looked very beautiful and the special effects were great. The only thing that bothered me was some of the creatures they created. I think they could've been "more real". I don't know if that makes sense, but maybe you notice it too when you're watching the movie. It could also just be me, I don't know, it confuses me a bit. I really liked getting a glimpse of Chewbacca's story and a closer look at the Millenium Falcon. That's one great ship with way too many buttons, isn't it?
I enjoyed Solo: A Star Wars Story and I'm going to rate it with a solid 7. I'm pretty sure there's more where this movie came from so I will be waiting patiently till then.
I absolutely adore this movie! It's full of adventures and hope and love and I just love it. It was so beautifully made. Every time I watch a Pixar movie they keep getting prettier and it all looks so real. Grandma Coco was everything. So beautiful. Don't get me started on the land of the dead with all the colours and lights. I really really liked it. The storyline was very exciting as well! Sometimes these movies are a bit obvious but this one had some great surprises in it.
I think Anthony Gonzalez and Gael García Bernal are such a good match! I really enjoyed their voices and characters together. I've been a great fan of Gael García Bernal since I watched "Mozart in the Jungle" and it's great seeing him doing something like this.
I can't wait for Pixar's next big movie because they somehow just keep getting better and better.
It was very different from what I expected and it's not my favourite movie but you can see they really put a lot of effort into it. All the different languages and the camera work. I really enjoyed that. Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland together was a great match! I think they both are great actors and it was fun to see their characters working together en protecting each other the way they did.
I was hoping to get to know more about Jon Bernthal his character since the army seemed to know him, so I was kind of disappointed with the movie ending the way it did.
It was an okay movie. For me, personally, Tom Holland an Jon Bernthal made it quite a bit better.
It was better than we expected. The movie itself was pretty predictable but a fun watch. I enjoyed the storyline and the actors. The subject really interested me and I've never seen a movie explore rap and poetry this way.
I always get a bit confused when I see Hana Mae Lee talk in a movie, to be honest. All I see is her Pitch Perfect character. She is a great actress though!
I enjoyed the movie and it's an easy watch. If the subject interests you I would for sure recommend it :-)
I wasn't 100% sure about it when I watched the trailer, but I liked it. The storyline is very cheesy and cliche, but that's how I like my romantic movies. I did feel like the romance got a bit "lost" between the father-daughter reunion. Abby Ryder Fortson is such a cute kid but as Billy, she was a bit much. Sometimes so much that all you really remember at the end are her parts. So I would've liked it if they made the other actors stand out a bit more.
It's nothing special but it is a fun/romantic/feel good watch. If you're into the romantic and a bit cliche movies, I would reallt recommend this.
Whenever I read a book that has a lot of impact on me, I can't just go and start reading a new one once I've finished it. I have to think about it for a while. You know that feeling? That's the feeling I got from watching this movie. It was intense but it was so good. I was confused about the switching between time frames at first but you get the hang of it rather quickly. The Vanishing of Sidney Hall had me under its spell from the very start, simply by putting a ton of questions in my mind and making sure those questions get answered throughout the movie. They don't drop all the answers at the end, you need to keep watching to get all the answers. Which I think was great.
I really enjoyed the cast. Logan Lerman and Elle Fanning are such great young actors. All the characters were so fascinating to me, they really are their own people. I loved it. I recommend this movie, I can't really say why, but I do. I really do.
The start of the movie was very slow but the part where Dominika learns how to manipulate was interesting. The second part of the movie went incredibly fast. Making me feel like I missed a few things. The most interesting part of this movie is Jennifer Lawrence her character Dominika Egorova. You never really know what she's thinking and what she is going to do next. Making the ending a great surprise.
The Russian accents weren't really doing it for me but apart from that, the acting was good. Joel Edgerton his character Nate Nash was such a sweet man. I really enjoyed seeing him and Jennifer Lawrence working together.
I enjoyed it but I probably won't watch it again.
To end this review I'd like to say: I want Dominika her wardrobe.
When We First Met is a fun and easy-going movie. I got a bit lost in the timeline but you pick it up again rather quickly. It has a great cast and I enjoyed the storyline a lot. So, yea, it's a fun movie, nothing too special, but very enjoyable.
I watched this with a friend and my sister and we were all expecting someone else to be the murderer, so it was fun to see how it was going to end. For me, the storyline could have been a bit more exciting maybe, but all the actors did an amazing job! Such a big cast as well, I love it! One thing that really stood out for me was the camera work. It felt like they "slid" through the story and it made me feel like I was apart of it all.
I really enjoyed it. My sister said she wished more happened throughout the movie. So I guess it's not for everyone but I really enjoyed the speculation and the unravelling of the whole mystery. Also, the camera work and characters were a big plus for me. Personally, I recommend you give Murder on the Orient Express a go. Even if it's only to see Kenneth Branagh his amazing directing/acting skills.
This movie was a serious reality check for me and my friend. You never really realize how many people can see the stuff you put online.
I enjoyed Ingrid Goes West. The acting was great and the storyline was very interesting. The ending was kind of disappointing. There was so much more I wanted to know and they didn't really talk about the fact that what happened between Taylor and Ingrid is actually not okay (in my oppinion)
It's an okay movie, you won't miss out if you don't watch it, but it is an interesting storyline/topic.
I was wondering how this movie was going to go since they modernised it the way they did. But it worked so well! I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat because of the excitement, and it was a really beautiful movie to look at. There is a slight chance that I loved this one more than the original. The cast was amazing, and the script was fast paced and well written. With just the right amount of adventure and jokes. I really enjoyed it and I would for sure watch it again!
Little shoutout to Jack Black. The whole cast was amazing but that man, he was brilliant!
This was one of my most anticipated movies, in a long time. I was so excited, and still am! Absolutely loved it. I didn't want it to end. I had been listening to the soundtrack a few weeks before I saw the movie, and I must say, the movie is just as great as the soundtrack.
The cast was perfect, and it truly felt like they were a family. I find the story to be so inspiring and wonderful, I want everybody to watch it, and learn from it, and enjoy it, and love it, and dance to it, and feel it, and I just really really like this movie.
I am already planning my second visit to the cinema to see this.
I feel like this movie was too scared to really get into the deep, which made it less emotional than I thought it would be. Because of the lack of debt, this movie didn't move me as much as I thought it would. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. It kind of felt like a laidback drama. Which seeing the topic of the movie, shouldn't have been. It worked though. You don't really get to know the characters on a personal level, which is unfortunate, but it wasn't a real dealbreaker for me personally. This movie is a beautiful story that didn't get the chance to show it's full potential.
If you're into these kinds of movies I really recommend you to watch it. If you aren't into it and you decide not to watch it, you're not really missing much.
I liked it! I was going in with some doubt because I didn't really know what they were going to do to keep it "fresh", but they did a great job! I loved the action that was included, and I laughed out loud quite a few times throughout the movie. I do feel like it's different from the first two movies, but the songs were great (I missed the big acapella mash-up though) and the cast was amazing as ever.
I am going to miss these movies but I love rewatching them, so that's what I'll be doing from now on :-)
Where do I start? I am so excited to write this review. I probably should have brought something to write things down while watching the movie. There is so much happening in this and I want to discuss it all! I'm going to try to write this review spoiler free.
I felt like crying so many times during this film, not out of sadness but out of pure happiness. I wasn't planning on mentioning this to maintain a bit of "cool", but it is worth sharing to let you know how happy I felt about this new Star Wars movie.
The opening scene, it was brilliant. A great way to start a movie! You immediately get introduced to these immense ships, this beautiful environment, a few of the known and loved characters, it was action-filled and it was funny! The Last Jedi had me there and than and didn't let go till I had to pee (it's a very long movie), and when I returned it had me again till the very end. There is a progress in every character's storyline, it was fun to see them all grow in their own way. Especially Finn. I couldn't really place him in The Force Awakens, but in this movie, he really went out there to make a difference and to help his friends and allies. Rose Tico, she is a sweet and brave character. I enjoyed the part where she and Finn went to visit a planted I didn't know yet and she saved those beautiful creatures Yea, I really like her. Which brings me to a character I first didn't really like to be honest, and that is Vice Admiral Holdo. It felt like she wasn't doing anything, at all, and that frustrated me a bit. Now that I'm writing this, I think that Rian Johnson might have given her that kind of "mystery" with a reason. I mean, in the end, we all loved her, right? At least I did. Poe Dameron, I have loved this character in The Last Jedi and felt like he didn't have enough screen time. This movie makes up for it all, I think getting to know him a little better was one of my favourite things, character wise. And then, Luke Skywalker, what a champ. I really enjoyed hearing what he had been up to and what changed him into the man he was in this movie. Seeing him and Leia together was so good as well. I loved it. Rey has become quite a grown-up, serious character as well, hasn't she? She is such a strong female lead. The connection between her and Kylo Ren was so interesting to see. I didn't expect that to be there, and I think they are very alike. Their connection was very brief and very beautiful. I really look forward to what is going to happen next with those two. Kylo Ren always feels like the guy who just can't get it right, ever. A bit like General Hux, who thinks he's brilliant while he's actually not that brilliant, which makes him quite funny, which is also quite sad. Bringin me to the last character I want to discuss and that is the Supreme Leader. First, is it bad that I had no clue who he exactly is? If it is, and you want to explain it to me, feel free to do so because I like to know. Right now, I wasn't very impressed with him, to be honest.
There are a lot of beautiful new planets and fun new creatures. Especially on the island that Luke was staying at. The nuns who take care of the small village are so funny, and the Porgs. I mean, they are the cutest things. I hear that opinions about them are all over the place, but I cannot, not like them. I'm weak. The storyline was very well written and it really went somewhere, it had a purpose. Which makes this movie so much more interesting and indulging. Every single person who worked on this did one helluva job. It's brilliant.
I wish I could have discussed a bit more scenes but I can't do that without spoiling quite a bit. I tried to discuss the characters as spoiler free as possible, which I failed to do, but I feel like these spoilers aren't major. You can read them if you want. I want to end this review by saying I probably forgot to mention a lot of things, I miss Han, I'm a bit sad that almost the entire original cast is gone, I can't wait for the next one and I think this one is better than The Force Awakens aka GO WATCH IT
(James Corden, I saw you)
The Glass Castle storyline was in my opinion quite interesting. The fact that it is a true story makes it even more interesting. It is fascinating to see how these kids were brought up, and although it has a lot of flaws, I also think it's quite beautiful. How they were seeing the world and learning by living.
The acting was brilliant, all the children in this movie are seriously good actors. I was impressed. They choice very beautiful sceneries to film, and the camera work was great. The part they filmed in the pool was done particularly well.
I might have expected a bit more or something very different from the movie, but it for sure wasn't a bad one. So I'm giving this movie a very solid 7, and you the recommendation to go watch it :-)
Thor made one helluva comeback let me tell you that! This movie was absolutely brilliant. It was exciting, it was beautiful, it was fun and it was so entertaining.
The storyline was really good, there were a few parts that were a bit creepy/scary but they did a great job at keeping everything rather "light". The whole thing fell into place perfectly, it was solid and it just had a very nice flow. The acting and choice of actors, again very well done. (heads up, I'm probably not going to say anything negative in this review) I loved that they added so many new characters to this movie. But I also loved seeing all the familiar faces. Tessa Thompson was such a strong female, I adored her, she is so beautiful. Cate Blanchett did a great job (but when doesn't she?) as Hela, very scary. Benedict Cumberbatch his small appearance was one to remember, so funny. One of my favourite parts was the address he stayed at, I mean that was one great wordplay. Really, I could go and call out the whole cast because I think they all did such a great job. Jeff Goldblum, very funny. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Mark Ruffalo, they all were amazing. I can't get over it. But I'll stop talking about it, for now. (Matt Damon, I saw you brother, I saw you)
The soundtrack was so good as well, the song that came on when Thor started fighting. Such a good song. I half expected Wonder Woman to appear on screen everytime it started, but still, such a cool song. Probably making it that ma jam.
This movie was so beautifully made, and it was so funny. All the people who worked on it deserve every bit of praise they can get. This might be one of my new favourite Marvel movies. If you haven't watched it already, I recommend you to run to the nearest theatre because you won't regret a minute of it.
It for sure made me laugh, but it also made me very confused about basically everything. Some jokes were just a bit too much for me I think, but some were brilliant, I have to give them that. I think the story underneath all the jokes was quite nice. I really like the relationship between Jason and Shadia, but also Jason and Dick. If you think about it, it's all quite sweet, but it was put into a jacked of dirty jokes.
I wasn't planning on watching it (even though in my opinion Zac Efron has been making brilliant movies lately), but then it turned up on Netflix and I watched it with a friend. To be honest, if you don't watch it you won't miss much. But if you want something easy going, quite funny and a bit weird, you should watch it. I'm giving this one a very solid 6.
For me personally, this was a very interesting movie. I hadn't heard of this event before because I was a bit too young when it happened I guess. The Wallstreet world is very interesting and complicated, and I find it to be quite Intriguing. This movie is a bit of an inside in this financial world, even though it's not a very positive story.
The storyline itself was very well done, and so was the acting. Robert De Niro was brilliant, you could see that he got frustrated once someone asked him about his work, because he was keeping this huge secret for everyone, and it started taking its toll. He could be so friendly to people, but then he would just snap to the people who are closest to him. De Niro did a very good job.
I don't really understand why they decided to go with the "we-tell-the-story-through-an-interview" type of storyline because I didn't really know who the woman was that interviewed him, and we didn't get to know a lot about her or her work. So that's still a bit vague for me. Apart from that, a very interesting and well-done film I would for sure recommend!
It was very different from what I expected, which made it a perhaps an even better movie. It was beautiful, funny and quite "easy going". It's not a very "light" movie though, I would say, but it is very enjoyable. It gave the viewer a right mixture between sad and happy. It makes you laugh, but it also makes you think.
Kumail and Emily were a great match, two characters who really made each other better and more enjoyable to watch. The storyline was very interesting and quite new/refreshing as well. I can't think of any other movie who tells about this subject. It is very original.
