James Wan is the Michael Bay of horror and this is his Transformers.
It's an okay noir movie but there are a lot better. The score is pretty good. The story is generic and it feels very long.
a very engaging film that fell a little flat. It kept me intrigued until the very end however I did feel let down. The concept was great and as a man whom has had to deal with similar issues in my own life it did hit a chord.
Maybe the ending would have been better (looking for a better word) if Bethan or the baby had died during childbirth and Locke ruined his life for something he may have got away with by his family never knowing his dirty little secret but then that is a very unpleasant thought that a child has died and half of the conversations during the film would become obsolete, either that or Locke just crashes the car or commits suicide. We are only remembered for the most recent things we have done.
The villain was set up as a villain without build up... We somehow were expected to just expect him to be bad because he was tense.
Meh...
I think the only thing that didn't work for me is the relationship development of the 2 main characters. There wasn't even a chemistry. Yeah, they're both good looling, but there's nothing there.. anyway the entirety of the movie, is okay.
:heart:x2
This was just a very bad piece of film making. The missing documentary crew were truly despicable horrible people and deserved what they got in the end. The animal cruelty is probably the most horrifying and disgusting thing in this movie, because it appears to actually be real.
The biggest reason this movie got some traction back then, was due to Italian authorities seizing and destroying the prints seemingly believing what they saw in the film was real. It was not.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Honestly, it was just okay.
Something about it just didn't work though. The ingredients were all right but the recipe was lacking.
I love Julianne Moore and she is a great step in as a more seasoned Starling. Gary Oldman was unrecognisable and gave a brilliant performance. Hopkins was good, it's a great character but... at times Hannibal's actions felt like the writer was pandering to an audience that already loves him and it fell flat often.
The storyline was a series of perfectly timed circumstances all round and lacked the depth the original brought.
There is a reason Jodie Foster didn't go forward with the role; even with her it would be difficult to make this as impactful.
I love A24 and campy horror comedy but yikes. This is just plain bad.
It's unfunny, cheap-looking and shoddily put together. Almost nothing in Slice works. Even Zazie Beetz looked bored. The only positive I can think about is the mercifully short runtime that makes this bearable.
Funny in places, but too much hype. Preferred the TV Series.
Definitely underrated! It's way better than expected and gave me a fun and emotional movie to watch. I really liked the characters and their interaction, too!
this was actually a good movie! i would highly recommend
Whilst the film is not without merit, such as it's fun soundtrack and some interesting ideas, it ends up being a convoluted and silly film with a goofy villain that doesn't fit into the franchise at all. Why is it even called season of the witch when it has nothing to do with witches?? Fans were surely left begging for Michael Myers to return
There isn't anything particularly original about the concept behind the guest but the movie is so well directed and engaging that it becomes very captivating. Adam Wingard shows that the outstanding You're Next was no fluke. Dan Stevens pulls off a challenging role as a charming young an with a lot to hide.
Michael Moore is good at asking questions. Most of the times even the right ones, but this "documentary" is not good filmmaking. Moore jumps around a lot and skips from topic to topic with no clear attempts to tie it all together Even worse, he inserts himself into it all in a rather obvious attempt be more important to the story than he really is.
Fahrenheit 11/9 asks a lot of good questions and might have been a good movie if it didn't come off as a far left propaganda piece most of the time. More unbiased facts and fewer opinions had been much better. To me, Fahrenheit 11/9 is not much better than a hit piece from the idiots on the far right, and that says it all really...
And remember...I'm rating the movie...not the message I think it was meant to convey.
This film is a bit like the post office: It delivered its message well, but didn't use much skill to do so. Wonder serves up the standard "catastrophe / redemption / catastrophe / redemption" cycle and finishes right where you'd expected it to. Definitely a feel good tear jerker for those looking for a feel good tear jerker with no surprises.
Edge of Seventeen is a great funny little coming of age comedy. I really hope this movie gets the attention it deserves when its released on DVD. Hailee Steinfeld is a star in this film.
Eh. Thought there would be more action. This is just a joke of an action movie. Silly plot.
Holy shit!
I can't say that I understood the meaning of every single thing, theres to many symbolisms hiding in it and sometimes can be so bizarre! Above all it's a film about great performances.
I am sure that Holy Motors will definitely have an impact on you and at the end you can take your own interpretation of the story, if there's one...
"Boohoo I killed an insane mass murderer"
This premise is enough to ruin the main character for me completely.
Weirdo remembers??? So she remembers growing up in another timeline for 20ish years living a different life, and she's now in this timeline? What the f***??
while it was quite a gore fest (my fiancée has a weak stomach and she had to look away a few times) I couldn't ignore the fact that the acting was quite poor, the dialogue between characters were laughable at times, there was no development so I didn't feel any sympathy or connection to any of the cast (if anything I disliked nearly all of them) I will get the special FX and make up thumbs up though, because it was quite grim, just wish the story had a bit more substance and wasn't just using gore to mask a rather plain and poorly acted film.
A frightful tale of the macabre, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a classic horror film. The story follows a group of college students who are abducted and tortured by a family of cannibals. The acting is really bad and is a little hard to get passed. And, Tobe Hooper’s directing is extremely raw; which can be distracting. Still, Hooper brings an impressive level intensity and suspense to the action scenes. Though it’s a bit rough and slow paced, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre delivers some chilling scares.
A movie that had potential to be good, the movie is soo rushed, and at top if that is soo predictable..truly an average at best. Hopefully the second one will be better.
I wish they would put English subtitles on the blue rays!
I was so ready for some fun and over-the-top horror stuff, but damn was I bored for 2/3rds of the film. The first part is a long introduction to the cast that I did not really care about at all. I might have if they were written with good character traits and interesting interaction, but all they did was say something really mediocre and done a thousand times. I maybe chuckled internally once or twice.
Then the violence started and I was hoping for it all to get much more entertaining. But, again, nope. It took the movie until the very end to show the cool look and design of the monsters, so we only get to experience those suckers briefly. And these parents are terrible. Hey, my son was snagged away from me. Oh well, I give up immediately.
I guess that sums me up. I gave up pretty quickly into the run time. Positive stuff though, would be the design for sure. Also, the animated sequence towards the end was great. But all in all, nothing made me feel like I was suddenly switched to interested.
Funny shit !
