After Blue

One of the most confusing films I have ever seen. I'm not even sure what happened or what the hidden meaning of it all is.
I feel stupid for not knowing though I don't think a second viewing would help me any further.

Terror on the Prairie

Good independent western film outside of the Hollywood world.
Acting is a little bit iffy sometimes especially from Carano

The one thing that annoyed me:
The door to the cabin. It opens towards the outside in several scenes before she decides to barricade it... Which as you might expect is pointless for a pull door. The crooks even try to kick it in even though all they need to do is pull it open.

Knowing that there's some other stuff that doesn't really make sense when you think of it but I guess that can be forgiven by believing the characters have a certain code. Whether or not that could would - in reality - hold up back in those days I'm not quite sure of.

Maybe that's a good analogy of the movie:
this film is like the open door, if only they had locked things down a little better they didn't have to run around the cabin (beat around the bush) that much.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: 1x09 All Those Who Wander

A creatively bankrupt episode where once again the creators throw stuff from other franchises into Star Trek.
It continues to be a muddled mess, not knowing what it is and ultimately becoming neither of what it attempts to be.
It's almost hilarious were it not they are destroying - or have destroyed - a franchise that was the staple of science fiction for over half a century.

Sad.

  • silly fantasy music going piddle wee piddle wee pluck pluck plum *

I already had a headache before starting this episode but it quickly turned into a fight for my sanity.
The lame humor, the fantasy, the attempts at being quirky, the song, the language, Pike's continuous cuckolding, Spuck's continuous unSpocking, shaved head (wo)man, ...

The only good thing was Christina Chong's cleavage.
(Honorable mention to Fauxhura's)

The Boys: 3x05 The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies

Would be an ok episode were it not for:

  • A musical scene
  • Seth Rogen
  • tired BLM and Antifa references
  • Seth Green nude jacking off
  • people not communicating to further the episodes

When a show consistently makes you root for it's characters, smile for the prospect of what is to come and have a sense of hope and "glee" in your eyes and heart you know you're watching something great.

The Orville: 3x03 Mortality Paradox

The difference in writing with Strange New Worlds is staggering.
Where one explains to me - among many others - the obvious that some pseudo Vulcan phrase means potato/potato this show offers me my own "intellectual" journey.
It still changes elements from original Trek (last week the Bio-Borg, this week you know what) offering more than just member-berries and expands the universe instead of changing and subverting what was already there.

I still applaud the stroke of genius from Seth MacFarlane by starting this off as a comedy series only to Trojan Horse it into a full fledged modern copy of Trek.

Mayans M.C.: 4x10 When the Breakdown Hit at Midnight

Mental note: It's always better to have someone kill themselves INSIDE your car rather then in the rain. Especially when it's raining. Can't get wet now can we?

Glad to see Tig pop up and remind us of better times. In fact, the few minutes The Sons popped up were more bad-ass than mostly everything that happened the past two seasons of Mayans.

There were good moments in this episode trial by fire, the usurper, Tig, Padrino's locking his garage, the false confession but again - too little, too late. Why not strip some of the bullshit and the crying and have this happen earlier instead of using it as a cliffhanger.

Again, at this point I just want to see the club burnt to the ground, and by what is going and how it seems to be set up the next season should be all that and only that. Brother against brother (Angel set the fire, Galindo vs his stepbrothers, club vs club,... ) till there's nothing left.

Mayans M.C.: 4x09 The Calling of Saint Matthew

Knew they were going there with that character the moment I saw her. BIG YAWN

The rest is same old bla-bla-boo-boo but hey at least Coco kinda popped up after his amazing redemption arc.
In fact, plenty people decided to pop up.

Curious what cliffhanger they'll use next episode to lure in people to watch the next season.

Snowfall: 1x05 seven-four

These jumps in events are confusing. Last time they were in the jungle, now they're stranded in the desert?
Same with what's happening with Franklin. Did I have a wrong copy or something?

The Orville: 3x01 Electric Sheep

I watched Strange New Worlds right before this one and it's staggering how much apart these shows are. And Strange New Worlds isn't even the worst of Nu-Trek.

For a supposed comedy/parody show to tackle suicide and racism in such a way and right out of the gate. To bring in new characters that instantly have you interested to find out more about them without forcing it on you.

Going into actual emotion, actual complex human ones in all it's ambivalence.
To once again have characters opposing each others' views and still act in respect for each other.

This is (still) real Trek.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: 1x05 Spock Amok

A wanna-be humoristic episode that had me annoyed at the first two minutes and made me want to gauge out my eyes for the next 40.

Goddamn, the hell is this.
Guess I'll finish the season and be done with it like the rest of NuTrek.
Can't say we didn't give it a shot.

Mayans M.C.: 4x08 The Righteous Wrath of an Honorable Man

Having less forced emotional baggage shoved down our eye sockets this episode is much better than any of the previous ones. Mostly at the beginning we got two crying people after another. It was brief though. Gilly's tear was a thousand times more effective than any of the previous crybaby moments in this series.
Much like last season however it's too late and it feels like a stretched out cliffhanger. Making it interesting at the end so you come back.

Ez going to the dark side is interesting, nice contrast with the path his brother is on.
So many plots however, are dangling around that can't possibly be decently solved in three episodes. Many carrots on a stick - some putrid and small - but the mule doesn't know where it's going.

Probably for a cliff, probably for the best.

They really thought they were clever with this one didn't they...

I'd be pretty pissed if you dragged me from point a to point b just to tell me to go back to where we were going in the first place. Not like there's death on every corner right?

Boring fake-emotional crap.

Mayans M.C.: 4x07 Dialogue with the Mirror

When I drive around a wanted and hunted drug cartel leader I always stop for stranded cars in the middle of nowhere too. And I especially drive a car that goes faster in reverse than a racing bike.

The 2 minute scene in the hospital was fine but the rest is just a lot of talking with women about feelings.

Mayans M.C.: 4x05 Death of the Virgin

Another episode of Cuckans MC with a lot of emotions. They might ride a bike but they are ridden by their women.
Is all good though, at least Il Padrino has one testicle left... oh no wait.

Oh, isn't it funny that this time sirens are blaring in the background not 10 seconds after the first shots were fired? It must've been a policeman's ball of something in the first episode.

At this point I hope the Sons blow it all up.

Outlander: 6x07 Sticks and Stones

I always applauded the fairly swift nature in which Outlander dealt with plotlines. Finishing them when they became stale. And now we have a complete season about the same nonsense and it's boring as fuck.

The junkie plot especially. Get it over with or did you run out of money to start the Revolutionary War?
So next episode they're gonna know who the killer is and miraculously solve Claire's weakness and everything else?

Mayans M.C.: 4x03 Self Portrait in a Blue Bathroom

Better episode solely for the cliffhanger they created at the end. Something I knew would happen the second I saw the kid pop up (he had that vibe).

Writers are spreading the focus thin by having so many plotlines.

I couldn't care less about where Emily stays seeing there's no sign of Galindo - there is no tension nor a sense of paranoia.
Also, quite the stretch to have someone feel bad for being selfish after being scolded by a junkie who has been nothing but selfish for as long as this show is on the air.
