Hi guys! First of all, I want to apologize for my congestion and nasally voice in this video. I was battling a mean cold and didn't want to miss this weeks video.

I read your comments on the "How I got into Med School" video, and you all seemed to want to hear about the residency and social media journey as well. So here we go. In this weeks video, I wanted to have an intimate conversation about my path of getting into residency, my experiences in residency, as well as how my social media route began.Being a doctor and the residency match are both complex topics. This is a much longer video than usual, and I was debating if I should split it into two parts, but the stories seemed too intertwined to separate.

I will make shorter videos in the future about social media and residency success. I really just wanted to share with you my family medicine residency journey as I hope it may inspire you or at the very least entertain you. If you enjoy this video, please give it a like, and if you want more intimate conversation style videos like this one, please let me know in the comments below! Stay happy and healthy!

Hey guys! This week I’d like to share with you the top 5 books you should read in 2018, basically, this is my own little book review. These books will not only help you understand yourself better but also those around you! What are your life changing book recommendations for 2018?

Hey guys! Have you heard of float tanks or restricted environmental stimulation therapy (REST)? There have been a lot of claims made about the health benefits of floating. Also, I've gotten some questions about them recently, so I decided to try it out for myself. I hope you enjoy, and definitely let me know if you want more videos like this in the future by giving the video a like and a share.

Hey guys! I've seen over and over questions and comments regarding dieting so I decided to start a series where I conduct a diet review in detail. I know many of you want to lose weight and there are many videos on weight loss out there. But I want to give you an honest doctor's take on fasting or time restricted eating.

I kicked off the series with the very popular, intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating. It's claim to fame is that helps burn belly fat/ lose your belly and it does so through fast weight loss. But is fast weight loss even healthy?

Anyway, I could go into more detail covering the smallest intricacies of the diet but I did not want to weigh down the video, both literally and figuratively. Please let me know if this is too little, too much, or just the right amount of information about intermittent fasting.

Also, I want you to remember that diets are not all about weight loss but more importantly about eating healthy.

Hi guys! In today’s video, I’m sharing with you 7 shocking but proven health benefits of taking a vacation. Hope this video inspires you to take some time off! Comment your favorite vacation spot below!

Hey guys, I was taking a look at my videos and I began to feel like I have only highlighted the good/fun stuff of owning a dog without discussing what it's really like getting a puppy. After all, It's not all sunshine and rainbows, there are days I'm scrubbing dog doo-doo off of my floor. So, I decided to make a video of 5 things you NEED to know before getting a puppy. I guess you can call this the less than glamorous, behind-the-scenes part of dog ownership; basically, everything I do in taking care of dog If you are considering getting a puppy you must watch this to be prepared for a new puppy. Also, if you know someone who wants to get a puppy this is a MUST share. I hope you like it =]

Hey guys! Here are 10 important questions you should ask your doctor to get the most out of your visit.
- Am I contagious?
- What websites can I trust?
- Why should I take this medication?
- What are the side effects?
- What is this test for?
- When should I follow up?
- What would you recommend to your family?
- What should I focus on?
- Can I have a chaperone?
- How much experience do you have treating patients with this condition?

Hey Guys and Gals,

It is normal to feel overwhelmed when you are trying to balance a successful work, family, and social life. We all want to be more productive and efficient. Most productivity tip videos and articles I've read give some "hack-style" advice that I felt didn't apply to most people. I just don't think it's practical to download an app to keep track of the time spent on social media as a solution to your problem. So let's talk the science of productivity and how to get more done !

So, I decided to make this weeks video talking about all my productivity tips and how you can improve productivity without any gimmicks. Please, please let me know what you think are ways on how to be productive or how to be more productive, as I love learning from you guys as well! If you have any friends or family members that can benefit from a productivity boost, share it with them! As always don't forget to leave comments and questions as I will be making a video monthly responding to those comments!

P.S. if you are a medical student in medical school do let me know as I love chatting with students who are in the same situation I was once in!

It probably doesn’t surprise you to hear that I often get asked about the reality of the popular doctor tv shows like Grey’s Anatomy, House, ER, Good Doctor, Scrubs, etc. In this video, I tackle the most perpetuated tv medical drama myths about working as a doctor in a hospital. It's pretty funny because technically I am a TV doctor because I work in news but I hope to you it's clear I am referring to fictional tv doctors!

If you watch until the end you’ll know that I have never watched a full Grey’s Anatomy episode and if you guys get this video to 10k likes, I will watch a full episode and record my reactions as a stand-alone YT video! I'll call it Real Doctor Watches Grey's Anatomy! Now go smash those like and share buttons!!! Also, don’t forget that I will be doing a monthly video reading the comments you leave so go ahead, jump into the comments section. Love you all!

What is the prostate + What does the prostate do + What is BPH + What is the PSA Test + What are Prostate Cancer Symptoms + What are Prostate cancer treatments are questions all answered in this video! Scroll down for the full breakdown of the prostate.

In my Real Doctor vs. TV Doctor medical drama review video, I promised that if you got that video to 10,000 likes I would record myself reacting to a full grey's anatomy episode. You got it to 20,000 likes! You have spoken and I have listened. You should know that I do get the question a lot from patients as well. Is grey's anatomy accurate? So I finally decided to take a dive and find out!

In this video, I sit down and watch the first ever Grey's Anatomy episode. Basically, a real doctor reacts to greys anatomy! I grew up watching ER and other TV medical dramas so I had a suspicion I would enjoy the show. I have to say this, greys anatomy is not medically accurate but the way it describes the characters as residents is very accurate. The hospital drama is real and I feel the show did a good job highlighting the difficulties of being a resident, inside the hospital and out. The one medical scene which totally threw me is when the surgeons automatically assumed that the seizure patient will need surgery before even coming to a diagnosis. That is not real life medicine.

It surprised me that the show is actually very entertaining and I actually enjoy the drama between McDreamy / Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey. Apparently, TV doctors do have souls haha. The hospital romance is real!

Get this video to 15k likes If you want me to do another doctor reacts to greys or doctor reacts to the good doctor or any other show. Please comment down below the name of your favorite show and episode. Love you all and appreciate the support!

Wow! Thank you so much for supporting the Real Doctor Reacts to series. I said that if you get the grey's anatomy video to 15k likes I'll do another episode and you CRUSHED it by getting it 200k+ likes. I dove into the comments section to see what medical tv drama you wanted me to review next and it seemed like the good doctor was the obvious choice. Get ready TV Doctors, because Dr. Mike is coming for you =]

Full disclosure, I have never watched an episode of the good doctor on ABC so I decided to go ahead and start my tv medical drama review off with the first episode ( good doctor 1x01 ) of the series. I was really curious myself to see if the good doctor is a medically accurate show.

I really did enjoy this medical tv show because I think it did a lot of things well. It gave an interesting look into what life is like a for a surgeon and a resident. Being a surgical resident is not an easy job and to make the situation even more complex Dr. Sean Murphy has autism so they did a great job of breaking down these circumstances.

I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Good Doctor / Real Doctor Reacts to the Good Doctor. If you want me to continue making this tv medical drama series please like the video and leave me a comment on which medical tv show or episode you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Once again I dove into the comments section to see what medical tv drama you wanted me to review next and it seemed like Dr. House or House M.D. was the next most popular choice. Get ready TV Doctors, because Dr. Mike is coming for you =]

Full disclosure, I have watched a few episodes of House before but this was probably 10 years ago so I decided to go ahead and start this tv medical drama review off with the first episode ( House MD episode 1 ) of the series. I was really curious to see the difference in watching the show now that I am a licensed doctor. The last time I watched the program I was in high school and knew a tenth of the medical knowledge I know now!

Honestly, I love this medical tv show series because I think it allows us to laugh at some of the crazy situations Hugh Laurie gets himself into. Plus It gave an interesting look at what life is like as an infectious disease doctor especially one as highly regarded as Dr. House. Obviously, the way that he practices medicine is not realistic or accurate because we don't break into people's homes nor do we treat them without explaining what we are doing. All in all, I think Dr. House is a must watch tv show if you're into medical dramas just for laughs alone.

I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches House M.D. / Real Doctor Reacts to House M.D. If you want me to continue making this series please like the video and leave me a comment on which show or episode you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

We are back at it responding to your comments and questions via this monthly video series. I love reading and responding to your comments and as you can tell I'll jump into the comments section with a reply or a heart.
Doctors are traditionally unreachable and I want to change that. So hop into this video’s and any other of my video’s comment section and let’s chat! I want to see your username pop up on my next responding to comments video.

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series soon so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Since I began watching medical dramas for the reacts series, I've found more and more that nurses get overlooked within media. Being a family medicine physician I can very much empathize with the situation. The dedication and contribution to healthcare from both fields is incredibly understated.

Studying to become a nurse is a noble undertaking and it is a career with so many positives that I decided to make a dedicated video to all the amazing nurses out there. Instead of just me talking about nurses I decided to vlog with some of my staff I've been working with for the last few years to give you some first-hand insights into the career. Obviously, some of the nurses are a bit camera shy, which is understandable but I think they did a great job highlighting whats its like to be a nurse and in general about being a nurse.

I know you guys have wanted a hospital vlog for some time now but as you can imagine vlogging in a hospital can be quite difficult with patient privacy and all. But for nurses week 2018 I had to make an exception and interview my colleagues. Also at the end of the video, you'll see many of the doctors I've worked or am still working with.

So, on this kickoff for Nurses Awareness/Appreciation week I again from the bottom of my heart want to say:

THANK YOU!

We are back with another installment of the "Doctor Reacts" series and this time I'm covering Fox's new show The Resident. I have not watched this show before but in reading your comments on the last few videos it seemed like this should be next up for the medical drama review series.

Considering I was a resident doctor myself this time last year, I was really excited to react to this new tv drama. In your comments, many of you made it seem as this show would be more accurate than the last few I've done so I had my hopes set very very high on this hospital tv drama.

Matt Czuchry does a great job of acting the part of an internal medicine resident but the writing leaves a little something to be desired (from the medical point of view at least). The main plotline of the show might have to develop a little more for me to fall in love with it. The medical accuracy is pretty good but again very very dramatic, which is not new to this type of series.

I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Resident / Real Doctor Reacts to The Resident. If you want me to continue making this series please like the video and leave me a comment on which show or episode you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

This is the one you've all been asking for. Scrubs.
Ever since I started my medical training in 2007 all of my friends have been telling me that I MUST watch the TV show Scrubs but for some reason, I was always a little hesitant to start it. Maybe because I looked at medicine as a serious field, it didn't make sense to watch a comedy about it.

Well, now I am taking your advice and watching the first episode ever of the medical drama. Although I think this show is less of a medical drama is more of a medical comedy or satire. I can see why many medical professionals enjoy this show because working many hours in the hospital system can leave you feeling frustrated at times,

Now, as far as my opinion goes I have to be honest. This show is not as appealing to me as it is for most of my friends. I feel like they take easy shots at medicine and exaggerate a lot for the sake of humor (especially Zach Braff ) Not sure why, but the humor didn't land for me that often. I also think I would probably need to watch a few more episodes as the pilot is rarely the best one. Also, Zach Braff irritates me just a little a bit in his acting.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Scrubs / Real Doctor Reacts to Scrubs. If you want me to continue making this medical drama review series please like the video and leave me a comment on which tv drama show or episode you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Hey Guys!!!

I don't know about you but I know I want to live as long as possible. Growing up I always had the misconception that living longer meant things like taking your vitamins and having a 6 pack. I thought this because of the amount of misinformation given to us by marketers and IKA experts (https://youtu.be/gLDQr9i7LkM). Being healthy is a lifestyle choice.

I talk to my patients, friends, and family every day about how to live longer and I wanted to talk to you guys about it as well. That's why I was so excited to see that this Harvard study came out and did a great job breaking down how lifestyle habits played into life extension. (links below).

Now it's important to note that these 5 healthy lifestyle habits are not the only habits that extend life nor are they proven to be the ones that extend life to the greatest capacity. These just happened to be the 5 habits Havard researchers selected to test. If I had my pick I would stick to my 5 pillars of health.

1) Getting Enough Sleep
2) Healthy Diet
3) Exercise
4) Avoiding Bad habits (smoking, heavy drinking)
5) Stress management

Next up on the medical drama review series is Code Black. Funny story about this show. For some reason, the YouTube algorithm labeled your comments recommending Code Black as spam. So when I went into my comments review section I saw hundreds of comments pushing to make a code black reaction video.

This is not as popular of a hospital drama show in ratings compared to monsters like House or Grey's anatomy but it still has a large fanbase and does well on CBS. After watching the show I was pleasantly surprised at not only how accurate code black is but also how much I enjoyed it. It really felt as if a doctor wrote the script and then it was fluffed up instead of the other way around. If you like this show please let me know in the comments so that I can watch and react to more episodes (suggestions welcome).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Code Black / Real Doctor Reacts to Code Black. If you want me to continue making this medical drama review series please like the video and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Hey guys! I am back with the next installment of my diet review series. This week I am covering the incredibly popular ketogenic diet. Within the last year or two, the keto diet has soared in popularity and I can understand why. It is a simple diet where counting calories isn't important (who wants to count calories) and you get to eat a bunch of really delicious foods.

If you are curious, the name of the diet comes from the ketone bodies produced within your body as a result of switching your body to fuel itself through fats instead of carbs. This is also referred to as a state of ketosis.

Next up on the medical drama review series is the Night shift. I originally saw many comments praising this show as a popular and quality medical drama with a military twist. This got me really excited cause I really enjoy military fiction shows. After watching several of these tv dramas I feel like writers are really trying to force some of these concepts and it shows.

I know this is the medical drama review series but man this show was so over the top it is crazy. Grey's anatomy is even more toned down and realistic than the stuff that went on during this pilot. I'm all for a little juicy hospital drama but the night shift really feels like its going too far. I mean the lead actor/doctor actually hits a hospital administrator and another doctor MMA chokes a patient and no one even gets in trouble. How unrealistic can it get???

Basically, the question I am answering in this description is how accurate is the night shift . The answer is ehhh. =]

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Night Shift / Real Doctor Reacts to the Night Shift . If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Hey, guys! Today’s video, sponsored by Cotton Incorporated, is all about how you can get the best night’s sleep of your life aka some awesome sleep hacks!

Many of you have been asking since the channel began for me to make a video that helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. Insomnia is a huge problem and I totally understand that. There are also a ton of how to fall asleep faster or how to stay asleep videos out there but I feel too many of them are not evidence-based nor even really expert based.

These sleep routine tips and bedroom hacks, including swapping out synthetic for cotton sheets, will help you get the ZZZZZs you need to take on the day; and the best part is that the power to improve your sleep and beat your insomnia is right in your hands!

Just so you know I can talk about sleep for hours so if there is a specific question of yours on sleep that has been left unanswered please jump into the comments section and I will do my best to respond right there or in my monthly responding to comments video!

If you have a topic you would like for me to create a dedicated video on, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series in a couple of weeks so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Next up on the medical drama review series is Chicago Med. I know that the series has multiple shows airing simultaneously like Chicago p.d. and Chicago fire, so this gave me hope that the Chicago Med will be pretty good since they have experience in making these types of shows.

Chicago Med is surprisingly fresh. It had all the attributes of a quality medical drama. Unique medical conditions that inherently bring drama to the screen. Solid actors and actresses. Good character development, without that much romantic drama. Although I'm sure it will come in the later episodes (please correct me if I'm wrong). This show pleasantly surprised me and left me wanting to watch another episode.

Basically, the question I am answering in this description is how accurate is Chicago Med.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Chicago Med / Real Doctor Reacts to Chicago Med . If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

Hey guys! As many of you know, I'm a doctor-- not a chef. But as a physician one of the top questions I ask my patients is, what are you eating every day? What you put into your body can directly impact your overall health. When you're ordering food all the time you have no control over what ingredients are used, and that's why cooking at home can be your best option. Meal prep services are super popular because they lay it all out for you and make it easy to create meals from your own kitchen.

So if you're wondering what is a healthy recipe or want a meal subscription review you have come to the right place!

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series in a couple of weeks so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

HEY FOLKS!

We are back at it responding to your comments and questions via this monthly video series. I love reading and responding to your comments and as you can tell I'll jump into the comments section with a reply or a heart quite often. If one of the questions I answered was not detailed enough or you want more info on the subject please let me know so that I can make a dedicated video giving you all of the info!

Hey, guys! Today’s video, sponsored by Cotton Incorporated, is all about your underwear!

We don’t normally think about underwear, but it serves a vital purpose—to keep us healthy. And small changes like switching from synthetic to cotton underwear can help keep our skin happy and prevent infections.
In case you couldn’t tell, I love these kinds of life improvements and hacks, so if you think that I’ve left a question out or are curious about the wild world of underwear, let me know below and I’ll do my best to
respond right there or in my monthly responding to comments video!

I know how much you guys love Dr. Gregory House, so I decided to dig through the comments sections and find out which episode you wanted me to watch. The episode "three stories" kept popping up with a lot of upvotes. I didn't get any background behind the story of the episode and I just sat down and watched it.

Now I didn't know it was going to be such a complicated episode to review as it bounced back and forth between three situations. So to simplify we decided to completely remove one of the three patient simulations as we felt it didn't add much to the story and just made it. more complicated for you to follow.

I wish I knew this was the episode that went on to explain what is wrong with House's leg because then maybe I would've saved it for a later review. But I guess its good for me to know for further episodes anyway.

I will say this about Dr. House. I think he is a kind guy that comes off brash almost on purpose to be a better doctor. You can totally sense throughout the episodes that I've watched that he is still angry for his decision made in this episode.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches House MD / Real Doctor Reacts to House MD . If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. You need to face your fears and step out of your comfort zone to succeed and be happy + healthy. So this week I jumped into a cockpit of a plane, played with scorpions, and looked super silly on the golf course.

I hope you guys can tell I'm super nervous throughout this video because I am truly afraid of all of these tasks. I also have to give a huge thank you to the folks at Kissimmee Florida for organizing all of these amazing activities for me and letting me conquer my fears all in one weekend!!! I put links down below for all of the activists you saw in this video so you too can reap the benefits of stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Leave me a comment down below of your biggest fears and share your stories of how you’ve conquered them!

Let’s talk about a throwback classic, ER. This is the first medical show I’ve ever known about and watched. I remember being a youngin watching George Clooney and wondering what it would be like to actually be a doctor. Now I am a doctor so I’ve decided to share with you what I think about the pilot episode.

We have to keep in mind this show is about 2 decades old and a lot has changed in the medical space but it is still incredibly accurate. I love the character development and writing in this show because it does feel authentic to what happens during hospital hours. I guess you can say that I am a fan and that ER is accurate!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches ER / Real Doctor Reacts to ER. If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

This week's episode is all about probiotics benefits and myths. The discovery of the microbiome has started off a huge cascade of new research as well as the launch of some questionable health products. I think that the idea that we are covered inside and out by bacteria, with the majority of it being helpful, is pretty mind-blowing.

I decided to make this video because I've seen your comments and questions on the subject, usually in the in the form of "how can I improve my gut?" Also, I've noticed that my patients have begun taking these supplements to cure everything from a weight gain, to a weakened immune system to acne.

As you probably already know I am a healthy skeptic and believe that just because we see some correlations between disease and good bacteria it is not as simple as putting those bacteria into a capsule. I firmly believe in the next 20-30 years we will unlock some fascinating secrets about our gut that will redefine how we think about our health.

If there’s something that you’re curious about and would like me to explore in a video, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We’ve got some really great videos coming up in the next
few weeks so be sure to subscribe to stay up to date! Love you all!

I have NEVER been on the set of a major TV show and when the folks from The Resident reached out I was incredibly excited to make this video happen. In partnership with Fox's medical show The Resident, I visited the set, interviewed Manish Dayal, and even tried my hand at auditioning with a pro actor.

You know that I've been watching a lot of medical dramas lately so going behind the scenes of a major show was very very cool. I got to review the set and see how they basically built a full hospital within a warehouse! The scale of what they are able to accomplish for these shows is truly impressive.

Please let me know if you enjoyed this type of video with a comment and a like so that we can continue to make more unique and fun content every Sunday morning at 11am EST!

Love you all!

Yesterday was the premiere of the show New Amsterdam and ever since the trailer was out you guys asked for me to review it. So I decided to hustle and turn around a reaction video in less than 24 hours for you! I know it may not be as perfectly done as the previous ones but that is only because of the time pressure to make this video.

Expect awesome videos every Wednesday 8PM EST & Sunday 11am EST! Oh, and the btw I'm actually really feeling this show so if you want me to watch next episode please let me know down below with a like and comment. Share with your friends + family too!!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches New Amsterdam / Real Doctor Reacts to New Amsterdam. If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

WE ARE BACK WITH ANOTHER CURBSIDE CONSULT EPiSODE!!!! Let's get this to 50,000 LIKES!!!!

This time I partnered with Experience Kissimmee and hit the streets of Kissimmee, FL to talk street medicine. This is one of my favorite videos to film because it really accomplishes a lot of my goals.
- Make Quality Health Information Easy & Fun to Access
- Expand upon the few minutes that patients get with their doctors to give general explanations
- Show that doctors are humans too and we like to have fun!

Within this episode we touched on these subjects:
- Weight loss
- Preeclampsia
- Aspartame
- Is blood really blue?
- Microbiome
- Chicken Noodle Soup for Viruses
& More!

My Newfoundland puppy named Bear was attacked last week at the dog park and I wanted to share with you the story because it truly scared me. After the incident, I went home and looked into what is the proper protocol if two dogs fight or if a dog attacks you.

This is the first of my Wednesday checkup series where I can feel free to chat with you guys and cover some interesting and timely topics.

In this video, I explained the best ways on how to stop a dog fight and what to do if a dog is to suddenly attack you.

We are back at it responding to your comments and questions via this monthly video series. I love reading and responding to your comments and as you can tell I'll jump into the comments section with a reply or a heart quite often. We need to address the questions people have about the flu vaccine. That is exactly what this video is about. The importance of getting the flu shot and debunking some popular myths regarding the subject!

Let's all welcome Gabbie Hanna to the Ask Doctor Mike Series!!! This was such a fun episode to record and we actually had such a productive conversation on mental health I think we have enough for another dedicated mental health video after this one.

Gabbie and I met via Twitter not too long ago when she asked what happens to organs after surgery. After my response and her reaction we knew we had to collab and give you guys sone video content. Within this video we touch on topics like
- Medical Myths
- Embarrassing health questions
- Crooked bodies
- Vitamins
- Body Odor
- Snoring and Sleep Apnea
- Skin Cancer and Tanning
- Excessive Sweating
+ More!

Mental health can be a tricky topic to cover in media let alone on YouTube. Lately, I've noticed a huge uptick in these stories and many if not all of them have great intentions. However, I have seen some questionable information floating around and it's leading me to share this concern with you guys.

Even when someone wants to do something good it can lead to some unwanted consequences. Take for instance the peanut allergy situation. Parents tried protecting their children from peanuts so much so that it actually caused a spike in allergies. Now we know exposing children early on to peanuts is beneficial. This is just one example of when good intentions can lead to bad outcomes.

The mental health conversation is getting a lot of buzz lately and patients have come into my office having what I call anxiety on anxiety. They are literally being anxious about their feelings of anxiety (even when they are totally appropriate). Also, many have self-diagnosed themselves from media (often incorrectly) and it takes a great deal of work and convincing to get them to let those thoughts go. Diagnosing a mental illness is complex and takes time. This is why it is best to go see your doctor to get a full examination and have an open discussion about what's going on in your life.

If you or a loved one is in immediate danger calling 911 and talking with police may be necessary. It is important to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained in crisis intervention or trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.

The good doctor is becoming my favorite show on TV let alone my favorite medical drama. I really have come to appreciate the writing/humor of the show.

I think it is so important to be able to not only create a show that is interesting but also keeping it medically accurate and give a great example of how one with autism can strive to new heights.

If we can get this video up to 100,000 likes I can use that to try and get Freddie Highmore to do a review with us so smash that like button!!!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches The Good Doctor / Real Doctor Reacts to The Good Doctor . If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

I wanted to share with you something that has changed the way I practice medicine. I have been seeing patient's come in with all sorts of unexplained symptoms including chronic pain for years without a clear root cause.

Understanding that the mind and body are intimately connected is extremely important in being able to help patients. A holistic approach mean a whole (hol-) person approach. That means in order to treat any condition appropriately I need to ask my patients questions tied to their mental health as well.

My recommendation are to:

1) Have a Primary Care Doctor (don't rely on Urgent Cares to give you Holistic care)
2) Establish an honest, open relationship with your Primary Doc
3) Take time out of your day to be mindful of your emotions (especially if they seem to be buried deep).

I opened the PO Box and you guys flooded it! I am so excited to bring you the first video of Mail Time! In this video I open the letters and packages you sent to my P.O. box.

I am sorry I wasn't able to get to all of your letters/packages on camera but I still very much appreciate the fact that you cared enough to send me stuff.

Oh and very importantly please don't spend a lot of your hard earned money on this as the last thing I want is for you to spend money on me. Your support is all that matters!!

YES, Primary care medicine is extremely important and I firmly believe that everyone should have a primary care doctor. Within this video, I cover why it's important to have and see your primary not only when you are sick but also when you're healthy so that we can optimize your health.

I am going to make a video of the best way to find a primary care doctor and also what you should be doing to get the most out of your doctor's visits.

Welcome to a new episode of Wednesday Checkup and today we are covering the recent viral video from Twitter. Many people are accusing the doctor in the video of racism and discrimination.

I think this was a really sad incident and I give my feelings in this video on the importance of diversity in healthcare as well as my thoughts on discrimination. If you agree or disagree please hop in the comments section.

There are so many videos out there of people playing Surgeon Simulator and you have been requesting that I try it out so I downloaded steam on my laptop and purchased the game.

It was really surprised that the game only cost 2 bucks! But that was up until I actually played it and realized how simple the game truly is. The game is clearly not meant to be an actual surgical simulator but more of a fun way to burn off some steam.

As I said in the video is you're able to get this to 20k likes I will buy all sorts of doctor/health games and play them during my Wednesday checkup.

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series this Sunday so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Back at with my second review of greys anatomy the hit medical tv show on ABC. Now you know my feelings on medical tv dramas-- I need less loving and more medicine haha!

This was a crazy episode but it is a fan favorite so I decided to review it. Definitely not every day that you see a pole go through two humans!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Grey's Anatomy / Real Doctor Reacts to Grey's Anatomy. If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

For this week's Wednesday Checkup, I wanted to share a story with you about how a patient encounter did not go as planned in my office. I thought I did everything right but the outcome was not what I expected.

In life, there are many times when we have good intentions where the outcomes are bad. During those times we need to evaluate why that happened so that we can avoid repeating the same mistake over again.

If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. We will be back with more Medical Drama Review Series this Sunday so please submit more names of shows/episodes you'd like for me to watch. Love you all!

Apparently, Gabbie and I love to chat all things health. So much so that we ended up getting two great videos from our ask doctor mike recording session. This is 27 minutes long but I felt wrong to cut anything out of it as it all seemed relevant and important.

This video is almost a completely unedited conversation we had when we first sat down to record the original Ask Doctor Mike video you saw a few weeks ago. We discuss the rise of anxiety and depression as well as some of the inaccurate portrayal of mental health currently in media. If you have comments or questions based on this video please do drop them down below so that I can address them.

Please Follow The Gabbie Show and be on the lookout for her Vegan video that we collabed on as well!!!

I KNOW this is VERY different from my usual Wednesday checkups but after I played surgeon simulator and made a comment about Overwatch you guys really pushed for me to make this video. I think it’s a fun game that requires a lot of communication and teamwork so I’ve been playing it for a few months.

I also do think it’s important to show you a true silly side of myself because doctors are humans too and we like to have fun and joke around. Gaming has always been a hobby of mine when I have the time and it is a great stress buster for me. But don’t you worry as health content will be back for the next video this Sunday!

When doing this video I thought about including pros and cons of playing video games on your health but I thought that would be better done in a stand alone video. If you guys are interested in the health effects of gaming, both good and bad, let me know in the comments section.

Let me know what you think about the game and if you agree or disagree with my very thoughtful analysis :)

Holidays are stressful and they can be a time where health takes a back seat. But this holiday season I wanted to arm you with tips on how to be healthy and happy while celebrating with your loved ones. In this video I take on everything from how to not get sick, to nutrition tips, to even seasonal affective disorder!

If you've been on YouTube for more than about 5 minutes, you know that ASMR videos are incredibly popular. This week I thought I'd dive into the research and see how much evidence is out there to support some common claims.

Nostalgia is truly a misunderstood emotion. On one hand it makes us happy and warm but it can also be debilitating from a growth standpoint. In this video I discuss how you can summon the power of nostalgia for motivation and growth during times of transition.

I have officially changed my mind about Scrubs! I'm really starting to dig this show's style of humor and the topics they cover. It is not easy bringing up the idea of medical errors and delivering bad news in a way that is easy to understand along with a dose of humor.

I want to watch more of this show so please hit me with some episodes that you really like from the first/second season as I want to watch it in some sort of reasonable order.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this episode of Real Doctor Watches Scrubs / Real Doctor Reacts to Scrubs. If you want me to continue making this doctor reaction video please give it a like and leave me a comment on which tv drama or show you'd like for me to review next. Love you all!

When I first heard about the gene edited babies being born I could not believe it. I am not one to be worried or be pessimistic but to hear that genetics can now be altered has put fear in my mind.

In this video, I will be discussing the conspiracy theory of mine that this genetic editing is currently going on across the world and that there may be some scary consequences as a result. I briefly touch on CRISPR gene editing and the ethical concerns behind the procedure.

Let me know your thoughts down below on whether you agree or disagree with my concerns and my conspiracy theory. Thanks for watching!!

Medical memes are a great way to get a laugh whether or not you are part of the medical community. I think that they are incredibly relatable as you can catch the humor even as a patient. I will say that some of the memes can be dark and if taken out of context can even seem offensive BUT we need to understand that this is medical satire. Being able to laugh at ourselves and our troubles is a healthy habit to practice.

I really enjoy reacting to these memes and I know that there are millions more out there that are as funny. Please if you enjoy this series let me know by liking, commenting, and sharing this video with your friends/family. If I see that you enjoyed it I will put out another post on my IG to send me the best doctor memes and nursing memes so that we can all share a laugh.

As they say, laughter is the best medicine, so let's laugh away together!

Doctors aren't mental maestros on every topic! In this video, watch me dabble with random "idiot tests" that I find around the interwebs :)

You guys have given me so much this year and have transformed this channel into something special, I thought of no better way to celebrate than to give away a useful gift.
