Hey Zach, not every action scene needs slow motion. For fucks sake
Ignore the INSANE bad reviews on this and see it! It's great! Such a great time! Honestly shocked by the bad reviews. I mean 32% on RT?! No way. Loved!
9/10
I was totally engulfed in this film. Everything about it was well done. There was incredible character development, well-executed plot, and honestly an enjoyable world. There were multiple 'Inception' moments and SO many references to pop culture and the gaming world.
I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary on today's culture, and where we are going, taken to the extreme. It was neat to see the players who met online, meet in person and continue being friends, despite everyone being different in person. I really enjoyed that message as a gamer myself. Also funny to see commentary on corporate culture trying to take over any power available anywhere (in this case, a hobbyist gaming community.) Various good messages and insights on what the world has become/is becoming.
SUPER ENJOYABLE.
If there was a bit more character development, Rogue One would be one of the greatest films of the year. Either way, it was easily one of the best Star Wars films, and it got that way through likable characters, spectacular cinematograpy and a great final act.
Oh, and the Vader scene.
I can't understand why there's such a low rating from critics and stuff. What were they expecting??
The scenery, wardrobe, makeup, everything is so beautiful and colorful. I felt like I was watching a play, a musical, everything was amazing. Emma Watson was a great choice for Belle, Gaston was perfect, the Beast was lovely as expected (Dan Stevens is a great actor - I might think Gaston was a little bit better though) and you're there for Lumiére. He stole the show for me. Ewan McGregor proves again he's the best, most versatile actor ever.
It is exactly the same as the animation, just some changes. It was a great movie overall, I cried like a baby the whole time (favorite 'Disney Princess' tale right here).
I can't understand why people wouldn't like it.
Against all the critics I read, I just loved the movie. Visually stunning and brlliant performances by Pratt and Lawrence. Definitly worths watch this one on cinema.
Wonder Woman is... well... wonderful! This movie is a true representation of the characters I have grown up with and loved from DC comics and the justice league animated series. This movie is about how Diana the princess of Themyscira becomes Wonder Woman, a classic fish out of water tale of innocence and heroism.
The chemistry between the two leads feels so natural and it is because of this chemistry that Steve's sacrifice is so heartbreaking . While the movie may not be as layered or multifaceted as other DCEU offerings such as Man of Steel, making use of a more classic 'by the numbers' superhero formula, it is undoubtedly a more meaningful movie. It shows us the true nature of humanity through the eyes of an Amazon who has no preconceptions or history with our species. It shows us the ugliness of mankind, how cheaply we value human life with the wars we create, and how stereotypical gender roles have been/are to the detriment of women without bashing us over the head with a heavy-handed feminist agenda. On the other hand, through her eyes, we also see the things humanity is capable of through the power of love.
Despite the importance of this movie, Wonder Woman doesn't depress or bog the audience down. It conveys these important messages within the context of an uplifting film filled with fun, action and romance.
Critics have voiced their approval for this movie, but that shouldn't make fans of the DCEU fearful. Wonder Woman seamlessly fits in with the DCEU, making use of similar colour palates, action direction, and story telling. While this is a movie all little girls must watch, it is truly a movie for everyone... it is simply... WONDERFUL!
Not allowed to do a review yet but I'll say this:
This is how you do a superhero movie.
This is how you do a war movie.
And the best comment of the night: "It was amazing, it made me believe I could become Wonder Woman." -6yo girl
To call this another Marvel winner would be an understatement.
Volume 2 is the best cinematic experience I've had in a long time. The action is great, the various cameos hilarious, the effects awe-inspiring and the laughs frequent and well-placed (one of the few gripes I had with Doctor Strange). And in the midst of all this, what really drives the story and keeps the audience interested is the character development. The heroes with which we fell in love in Volume 1 become deeper and multilayered, and the new additions add fantastic new dynamics.
While still falling victim to some minor storytelling tropes, GotG2 is the epitome of the spectacle movie.
They got the look and costumes right. The cast is also perfect. So where did they go wrong ? Despite some fine looking action none of it is involving. Plus the video games pulls you into the 13th Century more than this movie does.
When Callum (Michael Fassbender) gets transported into the life of his ancestor, we mostly get all action and no character development. There's the making of a good video game based movie for once.
Except there's just not enough to the story to make you care about what's going on or the characters.
i was very much in the mood to fistfight people after this
Sorry Angelina, you're in the past now.
Alicia Vikander is phenomenal in this movie, and I appreciate the italian version of the movie for not dubbing her "screams" and "moans" because they are fantastic and add to an already adrenaline pumping movie.
The movie is the same as the first reboot game on the "next" gen, personally I did not play it, but I did play the second one and if they are going to make the next movie the same as the game, it's gonna be even greater!
This cinematic reboot is a rollercoaster. Lara's ability to come out of situation is always a bittersweet taste of disbelief that makes you love it even more. But, in this movie they took a nice step back to her and so we get to see a more inexperienced Lara. Because of this, every failed step doesn't look... "fake" as it did (in my opinion) with the original Jolie movies where she was a badass from starters, feared and known by everyone and still went on about and made stupid mistakes which didn't make sense really.
I gotta say that if you let yourself be immersed, the suspense in some of the scenes is thick and palpable. The line between mythos and reality is thin, but it develops perfectly near the end without resulting boring or monotonous.
Regarding every other aspect of cinematography: I have to say, some of the CGI felt a bit cheap, but usually is surmounted by the amount of action the movie delivers, sound editing and engineering was on point, note that there aren't really big, romatic or thought-provoking photografical shots, but it's to be expected in an action movie.
Alicia Vikander is perfect for the role. I absolutely loved her for the entire runtime and she honestly kept my interest up entirely on her own.
I don't know if Square Enix is to be thanked for the level of quality and "textuality" of who Lara Croft is and what Tomb Raider is about, but I think it's a safe bet and I hope it stays this way.
Please if you have the choice, watch the movie in english, it might sound creepy or weird, but Alicia's screams are fuckin fire in this movie, it gives depth and dignity to the struggle of a character that is supposed to be strong.
I've seen this movie 3 times now and have a ticket purchased for Wednesday night again in the Dome. I LOVE IT. Favorite movie of the year and well on it's way to one of my faves of all time. The music wonderful, the cinematography is gorgeous, the script is hilarious and everything just keeps moving. I love every single scene. I think it has the chance to be the fourth movie ever to win Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Actress and Actor. Man, is this amazing!!!! See immediately then buy the soundtrack!!!!
UPDATE: Saw it for the 6th time yesterday at the Chinese Theater in IMAX. I. Still. Love. This. Movie. !!!!!!
UPDATE: Took my fam to see it the other night for #7. Still great!
UPDATE: Saw this last night at the Hollywood Bowl, making it my 8th time on the big screen. And I gotta say, my friend and I had an epic epic nightmare of a battle making it to the show and we were 20 minutes into movie when we got there but this movie is so special and spectacular it got us out of our funk instantly. Love it! Then I went home and watched it on blu-ray to hear the commentary man oh man I love this movie. Okay done with updates now that it's on home vid.
This is one of the strangest movies I've seen in a while. On one hand it is very clearly a Hollywood movie, filled with Hollywood people. But on the other the whole thing plays more like a soap opera. Like a whole season of a soap opera that was edited down to a movie runtime.
I think every scene has a shocking revelation, or big twist, or dramatic confession. Every time you think you know what is going to happen with the rest of the movie, that whole thing either plays out in 5 minutes or the opposite happens.
Are you a sufferer of TSB (Twist Seeking Behaviour)? Then this is the movie for you.
I walked in excited and walked out a smile that I couldn't wipe off my face!
Rogue One was a story almost developed to perfection, at every point your on the edge of your seat and can't help but feel invested in the story. And the Vader scene was epic in of itself, just made me tingle.
The amazing cinematography, fantastic scenes, and a final act that made this an Epic movie, and a must watch for every person, Star Wars fans and others shouldn't miss it.
On par with Empire Strikes back and probably one of the best movies of 2016.
We want more!
That guy who said "age becomes you" to Colin Firth. I appreciate him.
What a fun movie! As someone who was born in the 80s, i can appreciate all the pop culture references in the movie. Great cast, with lots of laughs. I'll be watching this one again!
Thanks to the chemistry of The Lonely Island trio, tonnes of celebrity cameos, mockumentary style, and over the top but lyrically impressive songwriting; Popstar never failed to impress.
DC has finally did it! Not only is Aquaman much better than any of the Marvel movies, it's an awesome movie on its own. The pace is good, music is good, humor is good, and visual is awesome! Wan did a great job displaying the beauty of the deep ocean.
I'm still sobbing as I write this. The film is very good but it is quite traumatic. It is a subtle meditation on grief (as symbolised by the monster) and will ring true to a lot of peoples experiences. Billed as a family film, though I fear young ones will be too scared by the monster and too upset by the subject matter. Brilliant performance from the young lead and a great script that isn't as heavy handed as it could have been.
I'm surprised by how well this works. The cast is the best part. Everyone just plays so well off each other.
Wowsers - this guy was a dick! It's not the festival goers I necessarily feel sorry for - they had money to burn by all accounts - but its the people who worked on this event, especially the Bahamians, who didn't get paid, that were hit the worst. Billy McFarland needs to take stock of his life and BACK OFF from doing anything like this again.
A great doc, certainly eye opening, and a valuable lesson for those people in Billy's shoes right now.
I saw the movie in an AMC Dolby Theater and I loved it! I haven't read the book so I cannot comment on how accurate the movie is. It had few older songs, few references to movies and Pizza Hut delivered via drones. It definitely looked really good on the big screen. I cannot comment more without spoiling the movie.
Funny, touching, incredible talent, with a really beautiful and important message. Loved every minute of it. The dynamic between the characters are gold.
PLEASE, GIMME MORE TWO MOVIES!!!!! It reminds me of the best of what spoke to me in the best of John Hughes's movies, i'm literally screaming... i'm in love!
That was cuuuuute and totally lived up to the book! Also aaaah that author cameo <3
I've never had an ED but I think it was a great movie. I don't think it glamorizes anything, which I know a lot of people were worried about when the trailer came out.
I really liked the soundtrack and the acting was also really good. Lily Collins did as excellent job, as well as Keanu Reeves.
I loved the movie! It was really fun to watch from beginning to the end. The cast was perfect and the whole story is just so amazing and funny! The fact that it's after a true story is just so adorable and amazing! The ending really hit me in the heart, but I loved it and the ending scenes where we even got to see a few clips from the real-life event. Great work I really have nothing bad to say, I don't even mind that it finished with a kind of a cliff-hanger even though I HATE those.
This was quite the disappointment. It was a weak story, unsympathetic main characters and a completely weird and unnecessary romantic storyline. Looks fantastic, but that's literally it.
