The first episode was incredible; everything was top notch from start to finish.
Maybe I expected more or the same, but this episode felt more rushed, and there are too many similarities to the sopranos (mother in the house, dementia, with someone watching her).
It cut too often and we didn't get to focus fully on the characters like we did in the first.
Still superb acting from Colin, and the rest did their part as well. Sophia (forgot her real name), seems to be trying a bit too hard to be "demented", but she still is a great actress.
The mom has been so f'ing dumb these past two episodes, it's really frustrating. Adding that dumb cop lady as an added frustration was a genius move by the writers.
fatima licking her fingers like the blood was some kentucky fried chicken goodness was so fucking nasty :joy:
but the season is halfway through and instead of relevant resolutions they said here’s a new character and a creepy puppet (???) to boot.
this shit better be worth it in the end i stg :sob:
OMG, it's demoralizing even watching this unit. I empathize with River. It really felt like slowing down after that first sequence. What I don't understand: If it's a training exercise shouldn't everything, including the description of that guy, be recorded and therefore be verified who made the mistake?
The first sequence of the episode was really good and tense, but the rest of the episode was pretty disappointing. Writing feels kinda lazy, and overall the show feels like it's just gonna be another generic spy flick. Hopefully it improves.
tabitha’s entire ‘escape’ was the definition of meeting one’s destiny on the road they take to avoid it :sob: sucks for her but im glad she’s back because i found the town scenes super boring. victors dad was simply not compelling.
also dale is annoying but funny,
”Who the fuck likes it anywhere? It’s a forest full of nightmares!”
LOL literally.

wrt tone and pacing, this is my favourite episode so far, but seeing as the season’s a third of the way through, they could stand to pick up the pace of the overall plots. they’re a couple of extraneous elements that are clearly there to pad out the time instead of contributing to character/plot/atmosphere and after 3 seasons, i need more than vibes; it’s time for some solid answers. at least one major one.
The dinner scene was one of the most uncomfortable things I've seen on television.
Solid return to the series to kick off Season 3. Not without at least a few lines of cheesy dialog, in typical From fashion.
I'm interested to see how they solve the food issue. They need 3 months for new crops, and only had a month or two worth of animals/meat. Then they lost a few animals too.
Also pretty weird to see the monsters take a hostage. I hope we get a good explanation next episode that isn't convenient plot magic aka Boyd's impenetrable plot armor.
Overall, I can't shake the feeling that this will have a really dumb ending. For now, I'm enjoying the ride and trying to ignore that feeling.
such a good episode. im so sad about kendall. i just want to protect him, he's genuinely the only nice, non-back stabbing member of the family, and he screw him over way too much.
also great that it all ended with a sort of rant/therapy anyway, and all the kids start to stand up to logan
last scene was also great, i need to find out more about it
Too many male characters to be enjoyable.
I enjoyed this, way better than I had been led to believe
This is the 3rd part of the "Alien" saga and I like it a lot. In my opinion it is better than the second part (contrary to almost everybody else's opinion). Why? Because it brings back the horror of "Alien" and drops the unnecessary action-overdose of "Aliens".
It started off interesting, but by the second half it went so horribly wrong and boring.
It’s like M.Night Shyamalan made this movie purely to try make his daughters singing career a thing. Then there’s her acting… so painful to watch.
I really had high hopes for this one, but it’s a massive letdown :( Great to see Josh Hartnett back on the big screens and shirtless. Smash
First part is enjoyable, if a bit badly written, second part after the concert just gets dumber and dumber, no twists at all, lame ending.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series, but the twist at the end was kind of lame imo. This will still earn a high rating from me, but it seems like the writers took the least likely conclusion for the sake of shock value alone.
[Big Spoiler Alert]
I find it hard to believe that there wasn't any trace of Jaden's DNA or fingerprints at the crime scene, or at Tommy's place. I was completely absorbed by this show, up until the implausible twist.
While eagerly awaiting the finale, my hunch was that Rusty's son did it and Rusty would take the fall for him. It seems like the writers went to great lengths to make him a red herring, but misdirection is more effective when the actual outcome is just as believable.
I fully get what they were trying to do here and when it worked, it worked really well. Sadly, I felt they didn't have enough ideas to fill these 90 minutes. In theory, following the killer (and the victims) through the woods in an over-the-shoulder-videogamesk perspective sounds like a fresh, tension building gimmick. But there were way too many of these kind of scenes and due to the lack of music, there really wasn't much tension either. I felt really bored after a while, just waiting for the next (mostly really great!) kills to happen.
To my disappointment, the background story was even thinner and (sorry) dumber than a lot of traditional slasher's. If you want to make an artsy kind of slasher, you really need to pull it through, especially story-wise. You can't just take all steoretypes of the genre and try to put the execution into an artsy, slow-cinema corset.
I dunno, this could have been a really cool short film but at least for me, wasn't thought out well enough to fill 90 minutes.
Weakest season so far, but just saying someone who's got Rick and Morty in their favourites said this show is lost and is political propaganda LMAO
A disappointing filler season. It's not the worst, but not a good one either. It's a huge step down after the peak buildup in Season 3, though somewhat expected given the Season 3 finale's abrupt shift in direction.
The whole season feels padded, as if they're saving material for the ultimate showdown in Season 5, much like the MCU's storytelling approach they used to criticize. In fact, the finale undoes almost everything established throughout the season.
The show used to prioritize drama and corporate criticism first, with shock factor and edginess second. However, this season lost its steam, putting shock value in the forefront while everything else takes a backseat. Outrageous sexual undertones and extreme gore dominate, with only a few notable sequences and character dramas interspersed. In fact, I can mention only two: the Hughie and Hughie Sr. drama, and the Ryan-Butcher-Homelander relationship. There is an attempt to include an LGBTQ relationship drama, which caused contention among fans, but it ends up as a mere distraction in the finale, appealing to no one across the political spectrum.
full offense but the people who are just now complaining that the show has become "political propaganda" are dumb as fuck. what were you watching the past three seasons. the season 2 nazi villain was named stormfront...it was never subtle. cope
And I thought it couldn't get worse than e05? Well, here we are. Boring, lazy, unbelievably bad cuts, lack of sense and simple logic with many connection errors.
This episode managed to have me lose nearly any sense of logic in the overall setting. I don't even want to write examples... it was just horrible.
This episode was complete filler.
This is kind of giving me flashbacks to watching"Tiger King".
Absolutely nothing happens the whole episode, then they add some cliffhanger to the end to make you feel like "holy shit everything's about to pop off!", then the next episode is just as boring as the last one followed by another cliffhanger.
flashbacks of sex scenes really are not necessary.
That scene at the dam is damn brilliant...
Really love this show, the acting, the dialog, the tension, the pace, the music
I can see that Alison Pill didn t need long before she said yes to this show
Anybody who spends 8 hours watching something they don't enjoy needs a new hobby
Some people here just need to understand that if a show is not to their liking for several episodes in a row, they should drop it instead of complaining in the comments section of each episode. Devs is a good show, get over it.
I feel like I’m watching a different show than most other commenters - I’m loving every second and the episodes are flying by. It’s tightly written and beautifully executed.
Some who comment here carry a very narrow view of gender. How 'Devs' handles gender is preferable to a lot of other series. if one cannot see why, consider looking up how Garland uses philosophy in his video projects; it's akin to that of Terence Malick.
mess me up, Alex Garland.
Literally everything about this pilot could not have been more tailor made to my preferences: the lighting, the acting, the premise (of course), and the MUSIC my god. Let's rock.
i swear if the first episode of the second season does not start right where this one ended and they do some 2 months later shit
